How many calories do you eat in a day Victorious Valentines?

Recommended Posts

Today is my two month bandiversary. I have still not lost the 5lbs I gained after that TOM and switching from 500-700 calories a day to 1000. I've been really depressed about this and I really need to get back on track. I have my next fill on the 1st. Lets hope that helps.

I'm just wondering how many calories all of you eat a day! Thank you for all of your help!

I dont really watch them I just concentrate on eating good stuff that will give my body what it needs but not what it doesn't. My Dr. actually told me not to diet.

I seem to run in the 700-1000 range, mostly around 800-900. I track on Daily Plate and try to keep it below 1000. Right now I'm really trying to keep my carbs low but having a bit of trouble attaining that goal. The only reason I'm even concerned about it is that I'd love the weight loss burst I get from ketosis.

I am with Tara on this!! I just try to eat smaller portions. About a month ago I was keeping track, and I found that I was obsessing about it. And when I was tracking it, I found that the times that I got more calories in, that is when I lost the weight. My body went into that starvation mode where it was hording every single calorie it could.

I don't know what that means the burst from ketosis. Can you explain?

I was having some problems losing weight for a while too. :frown3: I put in a call to my dietitian, and we discussed several different options, one of them was maybe bumping up my calorie intake a bit. I did that, I was eating about 700-900/day, now I'm keeping it at about 1000 - 1100. I also discussed the low carb thing with her, and told her I was getting about 30-40 gms per day. She told me that was NOT enough - that you need carbs for brain function (I know I need all the help I can get! :grouphug:), and that I should be doing more like 100 gms of carbs a day. Now, she's not talking sugars and white processed breads, pastas and such . . . we discussed good carbs, like those you get from fruits, vegetables, beans/legumes and whole wheat products. I still focus my intake mostly on Protein, but I did bump up my carbs a bit - and it seemed to work, I've lost two pounds! :( I believe in keeping things balanced, it seems to be working.

I do keep track of my daily intake on the Fitday program, if I didn't, I know I'd overeat. Especially right now, as I have no restriction! I have a fill coming up on Monday the 28th, and boy, do I NEED it! Can't wait to get in and see my doc.

Right now I get around 900-1100 calories a day. I was staying around 700-900 a day and barely losing. I get 60-70 (sometimes up to 80) grams of Protein and that's the only thing I watch other than calorie count.

My dr told me to avoid calorie counting right now (I tend to obsess!). I am just making smarter choices and occasionally tracking my Protein to see where I am with that. I have never done the low carb thing so I am not sure where I would be with those.

Sorry Michelle, didn't mean to be so slow responding. Ketosis happens when your carbs are really low, 20-40g a day. Because you're not getting it from outside sources your body burns fat and muscle to produce it. It's basically Adkins diet. I just lose pretty fast that way. But it does have lots of side effects - my mouth and breath - ewww. It's basically what my doctor has us doing for about 6 months. I have been having a hard time with the carbs - love em too much. Anyway, I'd love to be able to force myself back into ketosis for a month or so. Losing about 3 pounds a week but I'm so impatient.

I had to go see my nutritionist because I was having a hard time figuring out good healthy ways to get more Iron. I had a bad Iron deficiency for the last few weeks. We talked it over and she mentioned she thought I was lacking in more areas as well. She and my surgeon both said not to diet. Just make healthy choices. Of course my nut. made some suggestions. She said to eat a slice of citrus fruit with all of my meals containing meat because it helps with the absorption of the iron in the meat. Wow! I never would have thought of that. She is great.

Anyway, it depends how I feel but I can eat anywhere from 900 to 1300 calories per day. 900 being right after a fill because I get full SUPER fast and I'm typically not hungry at all. Also depends how tight I feel that day... Regardless I'm losing pounds at least three out of four weeks per month.

She also suggestion strength training every OTHER day. Your muscles actually act as an agent to burning more calories during the day.

I have a hard time eating citrus, but I think I will try it. But the other thing that I noticed about your post, is that you say you are losing 3-4 lbs a month. I know that is the healthy way, but I really see me losing that amount is a failure. I want more than that! I should learn to be more patient.

No, no! I said I'm losing weight 3-4 weeks out of the month (because of TOM). I'm actually losing an average of 3.5 pounds per week.

I'm eating between 1000 and 1200 calories a day and losing 8-10 pounds per month. I've only had one fill but I seem to have decent restriction (I get stuck fairly easily if I eat too much or too fast.)

I also do strength training (Curves) five to six times a week. I work the machines hard three times a week and concentrate more on aerobics the other two or three times. I think that has had a lot to do with my weight loss success. I shoot for 80-90 grams of Protein, under 50 grams of fat, and whatever carbs there is room for, (veggies, Beans, sweet potato, etc.) It is usually 65-80 grams of carb. I eat very little bread and Pasta. I track everything on "The Daily Plate"

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
