Does mushies include...

blenderized meat? ? I have a turkey tenderloin that needs to be made. I was hoping I could blenderize a piece and eat it. Does that count? I've read people eat tuna out of the can during the mushie stage so wouldn't this be about the same thing?

I ate pureed meat during my mushy stage. I would add some chicken broth and potatoes. Or to my tuna I would puree it with some FF mayo. I have one of those small choppers that looks like a mini food processor and I would whip it up in there. I was told that as long as it is the consistancy of pudding that I could eat it. DId your doc give you any specifics on what constitutes mushies?

With my guidelines, tuna was only a mushy when made really, really wet, e.g. more mayo than tuna. Tuna from a can would not have been allowed on my mushy stage.

Blenderized tenderloin could be a mushy, if you added Water. That would make it Soup, right?

My appt with my doc is tomorrow and that is when I actually get to start my mushy stage. I'm not excited or anything..lol I have made dinner since my surgery and wanted to make something I could sit down and eat with my man. Mashed potatos are on the menu for sure. I'm a little leary about potatos though because of the carbs.

Thanks for the replies

If you want potato flavor without the potato carbs take and steam the heck out of cauliflower and then mix with some LF or FF cream cheese. Blend until mashed potato texture and season with your favorite seasonings. It really does taste like tatos! In fact I just had it with my ground chicken meatloaf tonight!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
