I had surgery on the 27th of March and I always felt full after eating very little. Now I noticed today I could eat more with out any discomfort at all - Is this normal or is something wrong. Has any of you experienced this feeling also. Hartsdream@aol.com

Completely normal. It's often referred to as "Bandster Hell". You have no restriction but can't go in and get a fill for at least a couple weeks probably, depending on your doctor's policy regarding post-surgery filling.

Hang in there! Raw veggies in particular are great for taking up room but being low calorie.

If you are concerned about continuing to lose while feeling like you could eat an entire buffalo for dinner, try tracking your food intake with something like TheDailyPlate.com and setting a target calorie goal for your day.

This will happen all the way through most likely - for most people a Lap Band requires constant maintenance.

I've been maintaining at my current fill for about 9 months now, but I'm going in next monday for a teeny tiny top up. I've realised that over the past probably four or five months, I've begun to eat more, make poor choices a tad more often and keep having to make a decision to get back on track, and my natural fluctuations which were only a kilogram or less are now 2 kilograms back and forth.

I dont want to be tighter, I dont want to lose weight, but sooner or later, I'm going to swing a bit more and then 72kg will feel "allright" to me, and then 73, etc etc.

Its completely normal, you lose Fluid from your band through minute amounts of evaporation and your stomach gets smaller too as you lose fat. Throw in the effect of healing and swelling going down at your stage and it would be unusual if you DIDNT feel the way you do.

Hullo! We had surgery the same day. I'm definitely feeling like I can eat more. There have been a couple of times lately where I know I've eaten more than I should, and I didn't really have any repercussions for it (other than my weight loss slowing down some at this point!) I'm learning that all of my bad eating habits were waiting at home for me when I returned from the surgical center, especially emotional eating. I'm learning how to deal with these issues and pretty much force myself to keep portions down. Best of luck!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
