Serious Question

Recommended Posts

Does anyone else still feel twinges when they bend over or lay on their sides?

I do. I was banded late in the month but I thought by now I wouldn't be able to feel it. I am scared their is something wrong, but I just wanted to know if this normal.

:confused2:

I haven't said anything until now but I need to know something before I go to the Dr. tomorrow.

I was banded on 2-18 and occasionally get some discomfort near my port. It's more like the port digging into me. It's very mild and not that often though. Quick call to the doctor's office might be the best thing to ease your mind.

Funny I asked my doc that same question. Some days I can really feel and am paranoid about it ....other days...I don't feel a thing...but I love my love affair with it...I have it and nobody knows!

I have a similar problem. Sometimes if I do alot of walking I can feel a pulling, no like a side stitch. I asked the doctor on my last visit and she said that it could be a stitch that is too tight or pulling. She said to give it a few more weeks and if it didn't get better they could go back in and clip that stitch. For me it isn't that troublesome and unless it gets a lot worse I doubt I will do anything about it.

I still can't sleep all the way on my right side. If I catch myself there in the middle of the night and I am awoken because of pressure, I either turn to my back or put a body pillow under my right side to support where my port is.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
