Has anyone had their tubing disconnect from band?

Recommended Posts

I went for my first fill last week and it was discovered that my tubing had disconnected from my port, so I have to have surgery next tuesday to get it reattached. I'm SOOOOOO depressed about it, and I was just wondering how common it is. I can't believe I have to go under anesthesia again, and I was SOOOO hoping for a fill that I desperately need and instead, I have to start over! UGH!!!

Just wondering if I"m the only one!

Jenny

I've never heard of that happening, but I am still a bit new to this site. I am so sorry that has happened to you. I hope you reconnect with your port soon and easily. SS

I'm sorry to hear about your situation. When I went for my first fill, my tube was seen to be broken/split/damaged in some way, and it looks as if I'll need further surgery too to replace the tube. I'm told this is a simple enough procedure, but it's very frustrating.

I don't think it's a common situation. However, that's no great consolation when it happens to be you that has to have further surgery.

Take care and I'm sure all will turn out fine in the end.

I had the same thing happen to me last Feb. I had to be put under and my dr. put a connector in the tubing. Life was good until about 3 weeks ago - almost a year to the date of my last "patch-up" surgery. I woke up and had an intense pain in my right side. Guess what? It fell apart AGAIN! I am going to have the stupid thing taken out in 2 weeks!

That SUCKS!! I'm sorry to hear you're having problems! Since my repair surgery last year, I lost about 30 pounds but I stopped losing in October of last year. Around the holidays I had a lot of stomach pain and I FINALLY went to the doctor (I know, it took forever!!) and he's worried about a slip! I have a fill under fluroscopy scheduled for next month but it's possible that they'll find a slip and I'd need YET ANOTHER SURGERY! ACK! But, I'm down almost 80 pounds for almost 2 years so there is NO WAY they're taking out my band!! Even with these problems, it has changed my life and I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
