Hello all!!

I'm still trying to decide if surgery is right for me. I just had my first child in feb 2007, during my pregnancy i had major blood pressure and swelling issues. Therefore i was put on bed rest the last 2 months and KABOOM!!! there went an additional 40 pounds to my already overly plump figure. I've been working on my excercise and weight loss for the past year and have only lost about 30 pounds. I am currently plateaued (sp?) at 270. I still need to lose 100-130 pounds.

I'm here to check out what others think who have undergone the surgery. Specifically those in my area around Tulsa, OK.

Thanks for your time.

Wynd

Hi Wynd and welcome to LBT! I went through the same thing as you with my first pregnancy, I was absolutely bored out of my mind. That was when they first came out with Nintendo, and I became a real pro at many of the games.

Hi Wynd and welcome to LBT! Having surgery is a big decision and you are right to do some research before jumping in. Are there any support groups held in your area? That would be a good place to start. Usually a bariatric surgeon's office can answer that question. Also, check out this thread: Oklahoma Local Lap-Band Support - Lap Band Talk Forum - The largest forum for Lap Band Surgery Discussion and Lap Band Surgery Support . That's the Oklahoma thread. Good luck to you and let us know what you decide!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
