Durham region-let's do dinner Apr 29th, '05 at 6:30pm

Recommended Posts

To all interested Pre & Post-Op Lap-banders,

What do you ALL think about having an early dinner say around 6:00 or

6:30 in Durham on Apr 29th? I was thinking of somewhere easy to find

for those of us not from the area like either:

Golden Corral Family Steak House

just down from Durham Regional Hospital)

3800 North Roxboro Street, Durham, NC 27704

(919) 471-6820

or

IHOP

(located just off I-85 next to Kroger's and PetCo)

1821 N Pointe Drive

Durham , NC 27705

Phone: (919) 317-4161

What do you think? It would be so fun to see everyone in person and to

have a place just to talk and catch-up with one another.

S-o-o-o let's just do it!

Always, Judy

Hi everyone,

I'm just going to choose IHOP. We can always order eggs, which I like, and they are generally less busy at nights than Golden Coral. They always have tables which they can put together for us.

So plan on meeting at IHOP in Durham just to the left side of Krogers and Petco and where to the right is costco & Bath & Beyond located at the opposite end of that strip shopping center. Their address is:

IHOP

1821 N Pointe Drive

Durham , NC 27705

Phone: (919) 317-4161

When you get there just tell them you are meeting Judy. Also, in order that you can recognize me, here is my picture:

Look forward to seeing everyone that night.

Always,

Judy

Wow Judy, are there others here in the area? I am from the Charlotte area, which is quite a drive for me, but I would LOVE to meet up with some folks! I am being banded on the 8th, so I'll still be on a restricted diet (mushies, I guess?) on the 29th. At any rate, I'll keep an eye on this thread, and hopefully all our NC people will come out of the woodwork.

Also, there are a couple of us posting recently in the SC Forum, I'll make sure to direct them here, in case they miss it. Thanks!!

Hi Kathy,

We would welcome and love seeing you in Durham on the 29th of Apr even though it's will be a long drive for you. But I also wanted to share some information about some other bandster in your Charlotte area. And the good news is that there is a active support group there. I have copied the following from the NCBandster board (http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NCBandsters/message/1898) which is a yahoo group you should also join. I am sure if you get in touch with Jean Lee id below, they would love to have you join.

;o) With best regards always,

Judy

Hi Judy and Kathy,

Yes, I am from South Carolina. I am about 20 minutes from Charlotte, NC and I know where Randolph road is! That is great. I am so excited and can't wait to have my surgery. It will be great to see others and get to know their experience face to face. I really thank you for directing me here Kathy.

Judy, I would come on the 29th but I am going away on the 23rd for a Wedding so I dont think my hubby would be happy if I left the following weekend! lol Maybe next time I would be able to travel up and visit with you all. It would be great. I think Durham is about 3 hours from me. Not too terribly far? I would have to get a hotel and stay the night after I ate! lol Hopefully I will be banded by the next time you guys do this. Keep me updated!

Thanks to you both!

Angie

Hello,

I'm going to come to the dinner at IHOP. What time have you decided on? I live in Raleigh, and will have my surgery in the fall, since I'll be away this summer.

See you soon!

Susie

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
