I will have the last of my scheduled appointments tomorrow [heart ultrasound & oxygen test] and nobody has asked for my proof of my previously medically supervised diet. I'm getting concerned because my last appointment was Nov. 04. I called BCBS and they require in the last 4 year. Well, I started in July 03 but ended in Nov. 04. Oh boy, I'm starting to get stressed now.

How did you validate your supervised diet?

I didn't need to have one, but since it's generally a medically supervised diet that insurance companies will accept, the proof of it is in medical records.

I was able to get my medical records from my family Dr. to prove I was weighed every month and was working with him for the year to loss weight. I also got a letter from the medical weight loss center to prove I was working with them for 4 months. i was there 3 times a week and seeing their Dr. once a month. I was seeing a Nutrionist with the Vet. hopital to prove I was working with the Move on program for 2 years. I was also weighed by them at least twice a month. I had them write a letter to show I was working with them. So try to get letters and proof from any where you can. If you used slimfast and told your Dr. hopefully they wrote it down, plus any other thing you tried that your Dr. knows about. Not sure if this helps but good luck!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
