Is it a sign?

Recommended Posts

This morning when I turned on the radio, the first commercial I heard was for bariatric surgery. I thought, Wow! That's interesting. And I've been thinking about being banded all day.

This afternoon, I was pretty sleepy; in fact, I wouldn't be surprised if I dozed a little--the switchboard was slow. So on my break I decided to get some Oreos from the vending machine, because that's what I do when I'm sleepy, bored, whatever. There were none. I didn't want a Snickers bar, or shortbread Cookies, so I just didn't buy anything.

I'm excited even though I've been thinking about endoscopies and needles, and the band inside me, and PBing, and the pain. I keep thinking about what someone said, "Nothing tastes as good as thin feels." That just might be my mantra, and maybe this is a turning point for me.

Has anyone else felt they were given signs from the universe, or where ever you believe they come from? Just curious.

Debbie

When I first started thinking about LapBand I started to pray. I asked God for peace if this is the route He wanted me to take. I proceeded with as long as I felt a peace. I believe God was with me all the way through. I am now 2weeks out and down 21 lbs. Good luck.

Read the book, "Synchronicity". It will explain it all. There is no such thing as coincidence....... *wink*

I totally believe in signs! I think that most of the time we just ignore them because our lives are so busy, but I still think there is a higher power out there working for us!

We are the same age - I was banded last July (52) and I can tell you it's the very best thing I have ever done for myself - 83.5 lbs lighter and feel 10 yrs younger - and look oh so much better.

I had been think about this for years - but for awhile bands weren't covered by insurance and I didn't want bypass - in talking with a friend she said if you want to have it - go ck into it - and off I went and 7 weeks later I was banded.

Good Luck on looking for your signs - Jung said no such thing as coincidences :frown:

I'm not a believer in signs, I think our brains are good at making connections, but sign or no sign, you'll know the decision that's right for you.

When the buttons on my pants popped off, I considered that a sign. when I saw my fat puffy cheeks in a photo, that was a sign.

When the labels on my pants and dress size kept going up, that was a sign. YUP, plenty of signs all right! I decided to listen to the signs and now weigh 35 pounds less.

Still not happy with the size the label on clothes are, but the number is going in the right direction.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
