Can I schedule my fills during my lunch breaks?

Recommended Posts

I am three days post-op and have been reading some posts on how some people feel after their fills. Some get sick and others are fine. Will I be able to get my fills during my lunch break and be O.K. to go back to work? Or, should I make late appointments so I will not have to go back to work?

I have had 2. The first one lasted 3 1/2 hours (YEA) because my doctor was backed up. This last one was 45 minutes. EVerytime you go for the fill where I go you also have to see the dietetican and the physcologist as well. Ask other patients to see how long your dr. takes. Tracey

Would totally depend on your drive and who you need to see. I've had every fill except the first one on my lunch break. I see only the nurse, we get weights and BP and have a chat. I only have a 15 minute drive back and forth so it works well. I've had many more appointments without fills, but either way I'm there less than 1/2 hr. I get a little lightheaded for a bit after a fill for some reason, but lasts only a minute or two. I stop through a chinese drive through for egg drop Soup on the way back..Yumm!

I always schedule my fills on my lunch. My surgeon does my fills and tends to run right on schedule,, so it has never been a problem for me. I never experience any side effects after a fill.

I ALWAYS schedule my fills during my lunch time. The entire fill process is less than 2 minutes...it's waiting to see the doctor that takes some time.

You should definitely find out how your doctor does his/her fills. For example, my doctor doesn't use fluoro, but he does require me to drink 2 LARGE glasses of Water before I leave. So, the fill takes him about 5 minutes, but drinking all that Water takes me about 20 minutes (you have to sip, not gulp the water).

This morning, I had my second fill (total of 3.1 cc's in 10cc band). All told, from the time I walked in until the time I walked out, it was just under an hour.

As for how I feel after, I feel fine and am entirely capable of working. I got my fill done first thing this morning, and went straight to work after. The only downside is that if your doctor requires only liquids the day of the fill, you might feel hungry/tired the rest of the day making it that much harder to be at work.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
