Hi all- How's it going in pre-band land? I got myself a bodybugg this week. 3rd day wearing it. I love it. It is helping me see what I am burning, and how much more activity I need to do to keep on losing. Hope all your appts. are moving along.

Awesome!! You can do it. I know it will be hard, but you just remember it's 1 WE. I had my first fill today. 0.5cc. I have to do liquids for 2 days. I didn't have to do a liquid diet pre-op, every doc is so different. My nutritionist did recommend it anyway. I was like...oh yeay right. Don't think so. I did the Optifast liquid diet thing. I was all set. Keep everyone posted.

I was just watching the ch. 10 news and they had a commercial for waterfire. I can't wait to go and not have to worry about my thighs chafing super bad and having my feet swell and get super sore and falling behing from all my friends then whining to go home early! Just thought I could relate something local to some lap band goals of mine :)

Hi everyone.

I'm new to this forum and just wanted to say hi.

I have my first consult with Dr Pohl on 6/5/08

Does anyone know the average time between the consult and surgery?

I know alot depends on how appts are booked, but i"m just curious if I'll be able to do it by the end of this year.

Thanks alot, I'm looking forward to talking with you.

A little about me>

41 year old male. Married with two great kids. I'm doing this for them. It'll let me live longer for them and it will also make me a better person because of the positive psychological changes. Its a win win.

I live in Johnston RI

Hello Fenway - I live in Johnston, too. I went to Dr. Roye and the faster you get all your appointments done the faster you'll have the surgery. It took me about six months because I couldn't keep taking time out from my job. This will be the best thing you will ever do for yourself, believe me. Dr. Roye doesn't tighten my band much because he wants to make you go slow to actually change your eating habits but I'm getting there slow but sure! Remember, it"ll be tough at times but hang in. Good Luck!

I noticed there is not much posting in here. I was wondering if anyone is still around? I am located in EProv and getting banded at BIDMC in boston on August 11th. I just haven't met anyone yet that has had this done. I am super excited and super nervous at the same time!

hi - well I'm still around. I was banded in Aug. of 2007 and have lost 40 lbs. so far. That doesn't sound like much but my Dr. is pretty strict about giving me fills - he likes to make his patients really try to loose weight by changing their eating habits, not just by filling the band so fast. Anyway, I haven't found my "sweet spot yet " so i'm still plugging along. Good luck with your band and if there's any questions you have just ask!

Hi there,

Von from Woonsocket RI. On the road to WLS. I go to UMASS Weight Center in Worcester. Great doctors and staff. Had the privilege of having my medical eval/intake by a wonderful doc - Mitch Gitkind. Went to a group discussion which was simply wonderful. They meet approx. the last Thurs of the month at 6pm. Well worth it if you have not been able to really chat with persons who have already gone through surgery and are post-op for a couple of years at least. Quite an eye opener. Sept 15th is my behavioral intake and Oct 3rd by Nutrition specialist meets with me. I have been very active. I walk 4 mi. a day and am eating healthy. I have even attempted to adopt some of the things I have read are necessary for surgery. i.e., no caffeine or carbonated drinks, no drinking 1/2 hr B4 or after eating, etc. Any suggestions or input appreciate.

Look forward to hearing from you.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
