Month-Long Last Supper, anyone?

Recommended Posts

I can't believe that others are going through the 'last supper' thing like I am. For the past week I have been totally blowing it with food. I do great with sticking with my Protein Drinks but when it comes to food choices I totally pig out. I have to have 14 lbs off before I see the surgeon in 2-3 weeks (haven't been given the date yet) and am teetering between having lost 8-12 lbs lost. I could've easily had 15 off if I would just stick with the plan. My family hasn't been very supportive the past 3 days... they keep bringing me food that I don't ask for and instead of rejecting it, I eat it.

I feel everyones pain. Oh man do I ever, when I first got my date I started my 2/3 liquid diet (not required) but (always a but huh?) My 1/3 regular food choices most days are really good. Other days I blow it hard core. Its like my brain is trying to get that last bit of ever so bad for me goodness before I take the plunge so to speak.

I have finally gotten myself out of that mess and am back on a good plan. I went and got some of those lean cuisine meals for my dinners. I still make my kids dinner as usual, but instead of eating with them I eat my prepackaged meal and stay on track. I still have a handful of weeks left (two and some days) and then I am on my way. I am hoping to be closer to 230 then 250 when that day rolls around. Not cause the doc wants it but because I want it. I need to prove something to m'self and I hope I can. If not, no worries I will lose it eventually.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
