What kind of band do you have?

Recommended Posts

I had my last appointment with my surgeon yesterday (getting banded on Monday) and I had a lot of questions for him. I wanted to know the differences between the VG and AP and which was better. He seemed to lean towards the VG but he said there were good and bad with both bands. In my readings, I think the AP seems more advanced but he said it was a bit more difficult to manipulate during the surgery. I have heard it prevents erosion and he said it hasn't been proven yet. He made it clear he would put in which ever one I wanted. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hello TXCHELSEY,

I was banded Monday 3/31/08 and am feeling great, I have the Realize band which I believe is a VG band, no problems or complications thus far, good luck and I hear both bands work wonderfully, my Dr. said a little more stitching is required with the Ag band, but really just a matter of preference, good luck I will keep you in my prayers.

On my pre-op appt, my surgeon said he uses the AP. I don't know what size I got yet, I just got banded 3 days ago. On my post-op appt I will ask. Good luck to you!

I have the French MID BAND. Dr. said any band I wanted I chose the MID. I know some people that have it and it is working really good for them.

Hi:

I was banded on July 10, 2007 and I know it is working, but I know it is a long slow process. I just needed to know if 2.2 is alot for the fill your band holds? I am ok with it, just when I get anxious, or stressed out I can't hold anything down. I really think it is a nerve thing. Too much going on, all the time, no slack in my chain. Someone is always pulling it, or I have to many errands, etc. Please give me some feedback, and let me know if anyone out there is at this level of fill and has similar problems. Thanks. Oh, and if you are familiar on how to find the answers to posts please let me know at kclang@myway.com unexperienced with this board. K

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
