I was banded on 2/27/08 and got my 1st fill yesterday 4/2/08. They were going to give me 2 cc in a 10cc band, but when they did I couldn't swallow Water very well so I ended up only getting about 1 cc.....does this sound right for a first fill?? The Dr said my band may be a little tight still from surgery...but I just wanted to see if anyone else had anything like this??

thanks:unsure:

My friend who is 9mths post op and down over 100lbs had the same problem early on. I am not sure of the amounts put in the band however, she did have to go back and continue to have liquid removed.

That actually happened to me on my first fill (I just got my 3rd fill on Tues (4/1)). He had to take a little out (while I was still there, not later). Needless to say I think that I was just overreacting because it was a "new" feeling. When I took a drink of the Water it kinda gurgled in my chest. I think that my body just reacts quickly, both ways. It is quick to restrict, but then later I don't have any restriction.

Hope that helps.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
