Strange question but.....

Recommended Posts

I made a very very bad food choice yesterday, very bad. I was at work and ate what felt like a tonne of chocolates (gourmet ones, bitter centers). It was great at the time but I worked out like nuts when I got home and consumed 2 Protein Shakes, an apple and green tea for the rest of the day. I actually felt ill after eating them (good sign, perhaps it will teach me a lesson) but here is the question....

How long does it take my body to turn those Godiva's into fat? WHen should I see the effect of my binge?

Seems like I remember from my WW days that it takes about 3 days.

Don't sweat it too much, sounds like you probably offset the calories with the shakes.

The biggest motivation I use to aviod sweets is that they are adictive and make me HUNGRY.

Well, it's according. You body may have used the fat and calories as immediate fuel and it may not be stored as energy, fat.

But weigh yourself the next day and then the next...you may see the scales go down a tad.

Don't assume the chocolates will be turned into fat. As long as you didn't exceed your daily caloric need, no problem. Even if you did, that doesn't mean a 1/2 lb of chocolate becomes a 1/2 lb of fat -- doesn't work that way.

It's curious how guilt works, isn't it? I sometimes feel the same whenever I get off the track...

I wouldn't worry too much. With that workout and what you ate afterwards that chocolate probably will never turn to fat, your metabolism will take care of it if you keep it high, pumping and burning.

Dont worry about the effects of a few pieces of chocolate. as long as you are not eating them all day everyday then you will be ok. Chocolate is my biggest weakness and I still eat some about 4 times a week and I dont feel guilty about it at all. You dont want to deny yourself a few treats every once and a while or you may binge and over do it.

Thanks all, it especially got me when niki said that it is curious how guilt feels. I do still eat chocolate of the cravings is intense (i.e if I still want it an hour or so after a shake) but just ONE piece!!! I think I tried every chocolate in the box yesterday.

Surprisingly the scales are showing I am down 1.5 lbs. Have I found a chocolate solution LMAO. Don't think so.... I was wondering if I was going to see a nice little bump up after my binge.

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK GUYS

My nutritionist always told me, if you slip just make sure you keep going with your exercise and eating right, if you do that you generally don't give your body time to turn it into fat because it uses it immediatly for fuel, it depends how much you ate but it can always be counteracted.

Don't be too hard on yourself though, life is all about the mistakes ya know?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
