Eval Appt tomorrow - Nervous!!!

Recommended Posts

I'm nervous about going in tomorrow to meet with the surgeon, psych, nutritionist and scheduler...to "qualify" my BMI needs to be 40, and at 5'4" that means a weight of 233. According to my scale, I am 229. How ironic is it that I am faced with needing to gain 4 pounds overnight?!?! I've spent the last few days eating high carb & high sodium with hopes of Water retention...and as it is, my weight tends to fluctuate 2-5 lbs any given day!!

I am mostly a patient person - and I have a tenacious personality. However, the thought of not being approved from the get go through my insurance is something that is causing mild anxiety. I think that once I made the decision that this is what I want to do, I didn't think beyond at all the obstacles that may deter me.

I know that if it is really something that I want, then I will fight for it. I guess it's the thought of my b-day in August...and how I would love to be 6-8 weeks out before turning the big FOUR OH!!!

Tomorrow will bring whatever is meant to be. Just needed to get these nervous thoughts out there...thanks!! ~Tai in So Cal

I had to wish you good luck. We're in about the same position including I will be 40 in October. I went for my consult about 2 weeks ago then had my sleep study & psyche eval. Now waiting for them to gather all the reports & get it submitted to insurance. I am so hoping that when I turn 40 that my weight is where I want it to be & that I start my 40s feeling better than I did at 20. I was also a little short of where I needed to be to be at 40 BMI but I had read enough of these posts on here that I knew some hints of how to instantly gain weight. Best of luck. I hope you get to post tomorrow to let us know how it went.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
