who's on liquids with me?

Recommended Posts

Hey all...so i am going to ask a personal question, but i am totally at a loss! lol

So I am on liquids, and either costipated, or just not producing that form of bm? Anyone else? I lost 10 pounds on liquids, and now today i am up 2 pounds! The only thing I can think of is constipation...it doesn't make sense, I am a good little liquid dieter! haha

I don't think you'll see much because you're on liquids. You could probably put something like Benefiber in your liquids. That might help. Anyone else use anything like that? I'm drawing a blank on other product names right now.

I won't be on liquids until the day before surgery.

I too am on a high Protein diet, the nurse told us to take benefiber,or fibercon, etc. because it will help with Constipation. I take one fibercon pill a day and haven't had too much of a problem. Good luck.

I'm right there w/ ya.....1 week on liquids w/ one low carb meal a day and I have had the same problems....I do use Benefiber every morning in my coffee(no taste or thickness added) but still have to take Omega 3's, so it has to be due to less food.....by the way i am down 10 lbs in one week and today has been much easier..

i am on only liquids, Clear Liquids and 3-4 Protein Shakes a day. I was down 10 pounds the first week...and now i am UP 2 pounds! WHAT?! so I don't know what the deal is, i did get metamucil today and am going to have that tonight and then again tomorrow and hope things get back to where they were. I wish I had added in the benefiber or metamucil from the get go...ugh. I took stupid exlax yesterday and thought I was dying! I had awful cramps for like 4 hours curled up in a ball, it did help a bit, but not nearly as much as I thought it would...that was the first time i have ever taken anything like that...and NEVER AGAIN! It hurt so BAD!

I have been on liquids since last Friday and as of this morning I am up 3.2 pounds. It is kind of discouraging that I am so hungry and still gain weight!

Don't get discouraged and stop weighing yourself!

You are a woman and you retain Water, stop weighing yourself so your not discouraged. Your body fluctuates constantly, you could weigh yourself every hour on the hour and it won't be exactly the same. Only weigh in once a week for better results. I only use the Dr's scale as my official weight.

I have finished day one of my liquid pre-op diet & I didn't cheat. Yeah!

I'll be on this for another 23 days. We were instructed to eat five Optifast Products a day. It can be a combination of Optifast shakes and Optifast Soups, but we can only have two Soups a day dut to the sodium content. We are also supposed to have one Optifast Nutrition bar a day, two servings of Fiber (Benefiber was recommended), and drink at least 64 ounces of Water per day.

It's going to be a looong 23 days, but I plan to stick to it and see how much of a jump start I can get on my weight loss before I go in for surgery on the 28th.

It's late and my stomach is starting to growl. I guess I better get to bed so I don't ruin my successful first day. If I'm sleeping, I won't know I'm hungry. =)

Good luck to all of you on liquids! We can do this!

Holy COW! 23 DAYS on Optifast Stuff? The guy must have stock in it!

I start the Optifast Fest on Monday for two weeks (of course I'm going out with a bang and went out for dinner tonight for Peking Duck in Chinatown with my husband - no kids! ).

I tried one of the powdered chocolate Optifast shakes and was pretty, uh, unimpressed. I have the ready to drink chocolate ones sitting in my kitchen but haven't gotten brave enough yet. I'll be allowed only 3 a day starting Monday, and can have 64oz of clears to go with. I was told that if I am utterly STARVING I can have a *small* salad, or tiny piece of chicken, or hardboiled egg, but they said that I should really try and stick with just the liquids.

I did get some of the sugarfree DaVinci chocolate Syrup to doctor up the shakes. Gonna try that over the weekend. *sigh*

Good luck and keep us posted!

hugs

I started my pre-op liquid diet today. I have 10 days of this, but I'm allowed Tomato Soup, cream Soups, low-fat cottage cheese, sugar free applesauce, sugar free puddings and jello's, and cream of wheat and oatmeal. My only worry is, how much of this stuff can I have? I could easily eat until I'm full with oatmeal, but I'm sure that's not what they intend for me to do. I'm trying to be really strict and for Breakfast had an Isopure shake - that stuff is nasty! I don't know how I will ever find a Protein Drink that I can stomach. Does anyone have a suggestion? I hate milk, so mixing it with milk doesn't help at all.

I am no liquids - post op. I got banded this past Wed, 4/2/08. I was on liquids for a week prior to surgery. Love not feeling hungry. It is so hard for me to remember to drink anything. Good luck to all April Bandsters!!

The Muscle Milk Lite ready to drink chocolate ones are surprisingly good. You can get them at GNC 4 in a box for $7.99 and when I went there yesterday, it was buy one pack get the second one half off.

A lot of people have been saying that the powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury (isn't that the dumbest name ever? I immediately thing 'injury'...) ones are good, but I haven't found them IRL yet, only online. I kinda want to taste them before making the investment. Since I have a full stash of the Optifast ones (from my doctor - both in RTD and the powder), I'm pretty set for a while. Oh, and I do have a sample of the nectar Roadside Lemonade and nectar Lemon Tea ones. Supposedly you mix half of that stuff with half a Crystal light and it tastes like a regular drink. :confused2:

Kris-

Have you tried Miralax? It's supposed to be, well, magical. It used to be by prescription only but it went OTC about a year ago. In fact, I saw it at costco today. Now, dunno if you want two gianormo industrial strength sized bottles of it in your kitchen.... but it's there 2 bottles for $30.

I thought about picking some up, but usually I have the, uhhhhh, opposite problem. I figured I'd hold off for now to wait and see what the end results are (sorry, no pun intended!)

Feel better!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
