Ok to eat this amount of food or this type of food?

Hi all,

I got banded 3.19.08 and have lost 10 lbs so far. It seems like the past few days, I have slowed/stopped losing, which is normal for someone only about 11 days out. However, my concern is that I'm on mushies and it's hard to find things that are filling/healthy enough. I have a decent amount of hunger and am trying to stick to yogurt, pureed chili, kidney Beans, etc. But I admit I've had some ice cream and shredded cheese as well. Now that the band is on but not filled, I'm able to eat about 1 cup or a little more at each sitting. Is this normal? I'm afraid of stretching the band, but hungry at the same time. I stop when I feel full, but I'd love some words of support or just to know that this is normal! The diet oatmeal I found is pretty decent and filling. I would just really like to know what others found appetizing or nice "full" foods while on mushies because I don't know if I can go 3 more weeks on Soups and chilli.

Keeping the faith here in DENVER.:crying:

I've been having refried Beans, mashed potatoes, and cream of rice quite a bit. I got sick of sweet stuff pretty quick.

I was banded two days before you and am also on mushies. I find that yogurt and cottage cheese are good for Protein but aren't that filling. My dr allows us to have fish and tuna. I find that tuna salad fills me up immediately. I had 3cc put in during surgery but I still find that I am hungry. My 1st fill is scheduled for 5/9.

Sounds normal before restriction. If you're on "mushy" stage some other options include hummus (I lived on this), refried Beans (this too, throw in some pepper sauce, chili verde, sour cream, cheddar... mmm), mashed cauliflower/potatoes/preference, wet meat salads (chicken salad, tuna... try tuna salad with red onion, vinegar, a tad of rosemary and white beans). Cottage cheese, blended Soups (clam chowder and pumpkin are two of my favs), etc. Of course, these are all suggestions dependent on your surgeon's diet and what you tolerate.

I got banded 3/8/2008 and i got sick of Soup real fast, my nutrionist said it was ok to eat saltine crackers, because once you start chewing they become soft, crackers and tuna was a staple for me and also bran Cereal and mashed potatoes.

I'm on liquids until the 8th :crying: and am STARVING!!!! So I am cheating a tad  and have been adding a tbls of black Beans to all Soups and making it a mushy liquid gook & adding a bit of sour cream & salsa to give it a decent taste. It seems to make me less cranky & able to tolerate my day:embaressed_smile: I know it's wrong but I am so HUNGRY. I have also had half of a Mc'D's shake.< /p>

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
