Your doctor should be giving you all the info you need for your pre-op post op diet etc - be prepared for some discomfort after the surgery - it doesn't last long - but for me surgery did hurt - I was back to work though on day 6 - Follow your doctors orders to a T - Know that the lap band is only a tool and not the magic cure all to your issues with food and yes you will have to have will power - the will power to make a lifetime lifestyle change in your eating habits.

Good Luck on your journey

I agree with Indigo, follow your Dr's instructions to the T. Mine wanted a 2 wk liquid pre-op diet and I did it. I also lost 15lbs by following it. My view is only from the surgery point, I cant wait to see what happens from here. I had surgery 3/28 and have had mild discomfort and some gas issues. None in the shoulders as others have experienced, mine is more like something is sitting on my chest. The gas-x strips have worked wonders. Walk walk walk, immediately. I was up and moving within 4hrs of getting into my room. I was just a short walk, but I then later took a longer one and I keep pacing around my home. Im a single mom with a 2 yr old daughter and I have the weekend to re-cooperate before getting her back tomorrow afternoon from daycare. I plan on going back to work on Tuesday for 1/2 a day and then I have a full day of meetings on Wednesday. Just follow your Dr's advice.

Hi Littlesweet,

I am feeling the same way you are. I am surprised you have to wait so long for your procedure. I met with my docs last week and am scheduled for April 30th! When I read others I am curious as to why my procedure is happening much faster than others! Its making me nervous now...

I met with my doc 5/31 had tons of test to do for surgery and had surgery on 7/17 (could have been on the 10th but I still had 2 test to do)

I think it all depends on what test you have and how they can be scheduled and what your docs schedule is

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
