I was banded on Tues 3/25, and I have noticed that I have to take very small sips of Water or I have the feeling of fullness and have to do baby belches to relieve. It is not pain, just the feeling I need to belch. Yesterday evening I felt a bit gassy so I took Gas-X and that took care of it. Even tried runny oatmeal (it is on my full liquid diet--anthing that can be swallowed without chewing) that was more milk than oatmeal and that went down okay. So other than feeling like I have been punched in the stomach or the aftermath of 900 situps, I am doing pretty well. My sister, who had RNY a couple years ago, was impressed with how well I am doing, and I am 63 years old. Not bad for an old gal!

Hi, I was just banded on 3/25. Sips of water.... or put the Water on a teaspoon. Then walk, start with a few feet if need be, but walking was the only thing that helped me. Walking was really helpful for me and I didn't think it would work, but it did.

Gas ex may not help, but then again it might, so try if your dr. says OK. Hang in there.

Someone told me to use one of those Small Squishy pillows and hold it against the area were the band is located and that helps relieve the pain,. She even took it with her to the hospital and held it on her stomach area on the way home.

hey cool crystal. I also am in the Dallas area and will be banded this coming Tues....nervously excited here

OH cool! which doc are you using? there are some really goods one in the DFW area!

Also, my friend told me about the pillow thing, but I never really had any major port pain so I never did that. I did however sleep with a pillow over my tummy at night when I slept. It just made me feel more protected right there. If I slept on my side, I had the pillow going longways and held onto it. It was very comfortable.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
