January '08 Bandsters

I finally won some money in Atlantic City, Played the penny slots and some craps. Had a great time but you won't believe this - I went to a buffet and was able to eat. It was about 8pm when the bewitching hour starts. I can eat more at dinner time. I'll tell you, if I didn't have this band would go right back to my slobbering eating, stuffing my face habits.

Suzanne

Good luck with WW and the unfill. What does 5K stand for?

What does 5K stand for?

"Couch to 5K(5 kilometers)" is a program that helps beginners train for their first 5K run. I started the Couch to 5K program to get myself into a cardio routine.

Here's the link to learn more about it:

Cool Running :: The Couch-to-5K Running Plan

If you go to Exercise Forum here you'll find a few threads of people doing Couch to 5K

Red Tulips

I have not been able to get the slogan on my post, but I did go into signature and was able to at least get my band date and some info on it.

Thanks for the info about the 5K.

I was wondering how Suzanne is doing with her unfil and how much was taken out. I'm thinking of an unfil now.

If you want the same logo as I have, right click on it and save the image to your comp and then load the image when you edit your signature. You can right click over any of the images in the logo threads that I posted the links for earlier.

Bandana - Doc took out another .1cc for a total unfill of .3cc and I feel AMAZING! I think it's perfect now. No more heartburn and no PBs!!!

If you think you need one, it's totally worth it. I'll let you know how my weight does this week as well.

Hi Girls

Hey Suzanne

Glad to hear the HB and PB's are gone. Did you actually get .1 cc taken out or was it 1.0 cc's. I actually ask this because I'm trying to get my doctor to take out .12 cc's, but he says it's impossible to do. But I feel like I need to be inbetween 0 and .25 to get to my sweet spot because I've done .25, .50 and 1cc over and over and can never get to the right spot.

Red Tulip

Thanks so much but I think I'm useless at this. I was able to save the slogan to my computer, but then I can't find it to open it up when I'm in the signature edit part. go figure. But on a brighter note, I lost 2lbs this week.

Bandana, it was indeed POINT ONE (.1). A few weeks ago he took out .2 and the fill before that was .6. Not sure why your doc thinks its impossible. Maybe he means impossible to get .12, but maybe he could do .1?

Maybe he's interested in have easy numbers for research or something because I can't understand it also why he can't do it. I did see him this week, the regurgitation has been under control (until the last 5 days when I was very stressed and anxious. Then it was really hard to eat) But anyway, I decided not to ask him for an unfil. I lost 5lbs this month. But if the restriction gets worse I'll ask him. I m ade a copy of your response to show him that other doctors can do it. I'm saving it in my wallet for when and if I need him to do that fill/] or unfil.

Since you had your unfil are you able to eat Breakfast and lunch at a decent hour. I'm still not eating until about 3pm

It's snowing here pretty bad. About 6-7 inches so far. DH (I think this means dumb husband. I've seen it on alot of posts) Anyway DH is ggoing to be home and I think we'll just relax. I have alot of good food inthe house and look forward to nice and slow andh hopefully I'll be able to enjoy. It must feel great being 10 lbs from goal.a

Bandana - tee hee, Dear Husband (DH).

I usually eat Breakfast at 8 or 8:30 (I get up at 4am, so this is about 4 hours after waking). I usually eat a protien bar (tried regular food this am and had my first PB in a long time). lunch is at 12:00, then a snack at 4:00 (if needed), another at 6:45 and dinner at 8 or 8:30. I wish I didn't eat dinner so late, but I don't get home until 6:30, 6:45 and I just can't get it done any faster, especially if its my night to run.

It gets very hard to lose so close to goal. I didn't set a mini goal or anything. My original goal just happens to be my Holy Crap goal, so it has been a looong time coming, but I'm still moving in the right direction. I don't care how long it takes me as long as I'm progressing.

Suzanne

It's not easy being me. I am so lazy I don't prepare the right food and I wind up eating something wrong and started to regurgitate againl. Oh well, if I'm not eating enough of the right food and I don't lose weight, then maybe I'll try the unfil , but only .12. Thanks talk soon

oh I'll be gone for a couple of days. celebrating 20 years with DH. today he is a dear husband. Going to Atlantic City to Celebrate and really want to win some money. Wish me luck.

hey red tulip where did you go?

Bandana,

Happy Anniversary! Glad DH has graduated to Dear. LOL I'll be celebrating 10 in June.

This may not be the healthiest of choices, but have you tried Smart Ones? I bring them for lunch a lot and most of them are easy to tolerate. They are typically very moist, but not loaded with calories.

Enjoy your trip.

Thanks

I do have lean cusines and smart onesl. I don't think there is anything wrong with using them., The portions are small, they only cost $2-3 dollars on sale, and the Protein is good. I however, never think about them and am too lazy. I've gained 2 lbs since not eating good the last 2 weeks. Went down to 154 which is lower than the first time I went to Weight Watchers. Yeah, yeah.

Talk to you soon

I've been wondering how others are doing. I was banded on 1/28/08 and am 2 months post. I've had 2 fills but have no restriction. Where are others in this process?

I was banded on 1/28 filled on 2/23 ~ 1.75cc. Have restriction but not loosing as quickly as I would like. I don't think I'm taking in enough calories. Walking approx. 30mins./day. Good luck!!!

Most lean cuisines and smart ones are high in sodium and are higher in carbs than what we should be eating per meal.

Per my nutrition consultation you should keep carbs at 15g or less per serving....I have only found 1 or 2 lean cuisines that meet that requirement....Just as a FYI

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
