I was sick, now what?

Recommended Posts

I picked up a bug from one of my grandchildren and vomited nothing every half hour all Monday night. I did call my lap band doctor who did not seem overly concerned about my having done anything to my band. I am able to drink without a problem but I am having problems eating and my entire chest aches. Anyone had something like this before? How long does it last? Should I pretend I just had a fill and do that diet?:tongue_smilie:

Yes, stay on a liquid diet for a few days, move to mushies and graduate back to solids. You're no doubt sore, swollen and irritated and trying to eat might lead to PBing and prolong the recovery. Even when you dont have a band you sometimes have to baby your stomach back to normal food after a tummy bug.

I wouldn't worry too much about the band slipping, i have a car crash a few years back and got a huge impact right across the band area and it didnt budge.

They are tough buggers

Jachut gave sound advice. Slowly transition back to solids. You've been sick.

I hope you get to feeling better soon. That's simply no fun at all.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
