Hi, my name is tonya. I just went to my seminar tonight. I am going to set up my appointment for my consult. My biggest two worries right now, is will my insurance cover this, and then will i learn to eat the way i am suppose to. I would be interested in talking to anyone who could lend support.

:)

welcome, T! I was a self-pay, but you can eat the way you are supposed to if you really want this. the lap band is there to help you - it's amazing!

I'm new too! I still have to call for my appointment but of course the woman is out on vacation until next week! I'm with you all the way. I'm nervous too - I'm scared to death!!!!!

In order to BE someplace different .... we need to DO something different ....

Hi all!

I just set my date for May 13th. Self-pay so it's going pretty quickly. Already went to seminar, one support grp, cleared by psych (whom I'm glad I get to see thru all of this). I pulled extra $$ to cover my DVT tests, but found out it's included with my $13950 total cost. SC Obesity Center rocks!!! I go April 1st (ha) for my pre-op class and wonderful pre-op diet instructions. This is all my 40th b-day present to myself. I need to be down to 145...didn't weigh that since I was 10-12yrs old. I just hope my body will go down that far. I'm at 245 right now, 5" 6".

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
