Hi everyone, just wanted to post to say that FINALLY my doctor's office got everything submitted to insurance today. I called my RN case manager at Empire BCBS and she confirmed that she had the fax of all documentation in hand. Hoping to hear by Wednesday on whether or not I'm approved from insurance. I think that I will be, but figured everyone's good thoughts could not hurt.

Will keep everyone posted!

PS-My doctor, Dr. Oh in Federal Way, WA, apparently is super busy and understaffed (which most of you probably know by now). If you are waiting on paperwork follow up with the girls in the office, they know they have a lot to handle and if you're nice they will reciprocate.

That would be awesome KatsenD. I'm aiming for end of April, but any date would be fine at this point. I'm too excited to even work right now.

Hi Rainbow-depends on the doctor you use and who your insurance is. I have empire BCBS and basically had to complete two pre-auth appointments (nutritionist and psych eval), then they sent my paperwork over from Dr's office yesterday, got approval today. Also got a surgery date---05/22/08. That's five days before I turn 30!!

KatsenD-If you see this anytime soon, see my date up above!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
