When you're pregnant, does the access port "stick out?"

Recommended Posts

I'm 21 years old and I'm getting my band next week. I was wondering that, when I get pregnant, will my access port stick out A LOT? When I aunt was preggers, her belly button stuck out like an inch and it was gross! It is going to be like a baseball under shrink wrapped plastic? Lol, just another one of those pre surgery freak-outs!

It depends on where the port is placed. Mine is right under my bra band, so unless I carry REALLY high, it's probably not going to look any different. A girlfriend's is on her side, and hers did not show.

It depends on your build too, and the size of your baby and how you carry your pregnancies too.

I'm 5ft 10, had nice normal 7 to 8lb babies, and my belly button remained a deep innie the whole way through, I got absolutely no stretch marks and didnt need maternity clothes till about 30 weeks. People thought I was 6 months pregnant when I was almost full term. Lucky, very lucky, lol. But I bet my port wouldnt have stuck out all that much.

If on the other hand you're 5ft nothing, have a 10lb baby and carry out front its pretty much a given your belly button will pop out, you will get stretch marks and have a bump pretty early on, and probably your port would show as well.

You just dont know how your body will do pregnancy till you're there. But really, the port will be the least of your worries, you'll be fascinated by your simply enormous boobs, lol, and worried by the size of your bum more likely.

Haha, I'll be the "Mom, is she fat or pregnant?" girl. Unless my baby's really damn high, like by my boobs, I'm not worried about my port.

jachut, with my last one i carried just as you speak of..5 ft nothing..lol. i was so big at the end that i couldn't drive a vehicle. my belly would be up against the steering wheel, and i still couldn't reach with my arms. haha, which i wasn't heavy then, so i was all belly. i'm hoping this time is not so big, because i'm big everywhere else. :sneaky:

i'll def be a "is she pregnant or fat" person.

i don't know how far along i am, but i am starting to show, and you can see a visible "lump" where my port is. it used to be smooth but it is beginning to stick out...and i'm barely showing..so i'm sure, it is going to be popping out big time.

I'm 31 weeks pregnant and my port looks like a lump. If I see a new dr or nurse they always ask if I have a hernia... It's also somewhat tender, but then again my little girl likes to kick it along with ribs and sternum. She's got big feet (as seen on the ultrasound).

My port is definitely noticeable. I want to say that it became that way at around the 6-7 month stage. My family members that know I had surgery are grossed out by it, but for those that don't know - they are quite exctited to feel "a little foot" or something.

I do have to say, that when it first began petruding, I was quite tender in the surrounding area, but I have gotten used to it and it doesn't really aggrivate me as often now. My daughter does, however, like to make herself comfy on my right upper quadrant - so not only is she constantly in my ribs, she is right by my port - which I am sure adds to the "little foot" petruding !!!

That is too too funny, I will have to remember that.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
