Finally getting things on a roll!!!

Recommended Posts

Hello all. I finally get to see the surdeon on 4/3. After a month of sending in my paper work I am now on my way to my journey:biggrin: After i see the surgeon then he will give me the rest of my appointments with the nutritionist & whoever else. I am just so releived that i am now getting things rolling. I have been over weight for the past 5 years or so with history of high blood pressure & my legs would swell & veins would pop. I am 34 yrs old & weigh 240lbs at 5'4. my bmi is 41. i sure hope & pray that everything goes well with this journey. I am a little nervous mabut my insurance. I have bcbs,of m michican & they told mme they don't do a preapproval. They say if i meet their requirements then it will be approved. But the only thing about that is when i have the surgery & they send it in & tHE insurance don't pay the its my responsibility:crying:. Anyways i will keep you posted on everything. thanks for your support:thumbs_up:

Wow! How exciting to start your journey! That is scary that you have to pay if insurance doesn't cover it since there is no preapproval. No matter what it will be worth it. Debt seems to be a fact of life. We are all going to have debt for the rest of our lives, so we might as well be happy and healthy. I would have this surgery a million times over! Good luck on your weight loss journey!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
