Nov. Nymphs "Spring into Weight Loss" Challenge FINAL WEIGHT

Recommended Posts

I think my last fill is working Shortgal. I definitely feel full quicker. I can still eat okay but I can go a lot longer without food. Of course chocolate just slides through! I'll definitely be careful with the Easter goodies.

That's great to hear you have finally gotten a restriction level you're comfortable with.

I'll still have to try more foods to find out where I am. Firmest food I've had is a crab cake, not a good test. It feels good right now, but I always feel better restriction in the first four days after the fill, so we'll see.

I fell a little short of goal. :crying: I didn't want to post at first because I was feeling really down about it. I have been stalled for a couple of weeks. But I am still happy with my overall weight loss. I see there is a new challenge, so I will post there and work really hard this time. Maybe I do need another fill to get me going again.

Well I don't have as much restriction as I thought, still able to eat large amounts but I am definitely full for much longer. I had 2 days in a row of big lunches and snacking but no real dinner. The plan is to get back to small meals until my next fill.

I'm still trying to figure out how good my restriction is. Saturday night I got full on a reasonable portion and yesterday I wasn;t feeling well and was full on very little food and did not have much of an appetite.

Today, I'm not sure. Had a small bowl of Cereal and think I could eat more. I haven't had enough days of eating real food to decide. I'll have to try more solid food.

I think I tested my limits at lunch and need to stop long before I did. Now that Easter's over I will go back to small meals... won't feel so bloated then.

I think I tested my limits at lunch and need to stop long before I did. Now that Easter's over I will go back to small meals... won't feel so bloated then.

After having B'fast and lunch, I still felt the need for a snack late afternoon, so five days after my fill, I'm thinking this one hasn't gotten me where I need to be. The first few days when I get swelling around the band, it's perfect.

I ate Cereal yesterday a.m and was not hungry for hours. I didn;t want any of the appetizers at my SIL's house, which was lunch time. My the time they served dinner, I was ready to eat, but felt comfortable with 2 meatballs, carrots and a small portion of potatoes. I also had a quarter of a cupcake. That's all I ate all day.

Today, I am hungry like before the fill. And I was able to eat an apple with the skin. One of the nurses ( she's been banded) always seems surprised when I tell her this. My afternoon snack was a piece of whole wheat bread with Peanut Butter.

I guess I'm going to need at least 8cc's in my band. I put off my appt until May 3rd because of our vacation. Another month without good restriction. UGH! More willpower, I guess. I had no idea it would take this long to get restriction.

Let me know how your fill holds. We have about the same amount in our bands.

I must say Shortgal that I've been really bloated for the last couple of days. Too much food & choccies and no exercise. The plan was to go for my walk this morning and aqua tonight but that all fell through when my BIL woke up with chest pains at 4am and ended up in hospital. They believe he had a mild heart attack and is staying in overnight for more tests tomorrow. Fingers crossed that it's not too serious. I definitely need to get my ass moving tomorrow. It's funny but as soon as I start losing again I do something to sabotage it... happening again and I feel so frustrated because I end up having to lose the same couple of pounds over and over again.

Sades: Sorry to hear about your BIL. Several years ago, I was exercising pretty hard and faithfully but I found later that, for me, relying on too much exercise didn;t work because eventually life got in the way of being faithful to it. I know that's not true for everyone, but it is for me. so I learned then, that I must control my food and then if I exercise it's a bonus. I feel good wen I do some exercise, but somehow of all the things in the day, that one gets pushed back if there are other things to do.

I do admire people that fit "normal" exercise into their schedule. I've seen some on here that seems to just shift their food addiction to exercise addiction. Certainly a healthier addiction, but not a "weight loss" answer for everyone. I guess everyone just has to find the solution that works for them.

Figuring this whole band thing out takes time.

Thanks Shortgal. I have been exercising pretty much every day since xmas but it isn't my natural thing, never has been. I do get addicted to it once I get going but can just as easily go the other way if I don't do it for a few days. That's why I have to stay on top of it. You said it about the band, definitely takes some time getting used to it.

Marie, 2 lbs lost has to be better than 2 lbs gained... good luck with the next round.

Sades: How is your BIL? Hope it was just indigestion after a meal.

Thanks for asking Shortgal. They believe he had a mild heart attack but won't know for sure until he has an echocardiogram today to determine what damage there is. Unfortunately heart disease runs in his family. His 2 brothers have had major bypasses and his brother and nephew who both passed away in separate car accidents would have needed bypasses at some point. I just hope he looks after himself so he doesn't have to. He is a tall skinny guy who loves his fatty food and junk meals so it just shows that it's not always because you're fat that these things happen. He is originally from the USA... my sister met him in Australia in the 60s while he was on R&R from the air force.

How's your restriction going?

What restriction? I can hardly tell any difference from before. I hope I see a different nurse next time for another opinion, if they think this is unusual.

I'm still eating like I'm dieting, it's just easier to stay on the diet. It the lack of the full feeling for several hours after meals that I really want, that I don't have.

Your BIL has quite a family history of heart disease. All the brothers proably grew up eating the same fatty foods and developed a taste for them that lasts.

My husband's family was like that. Everything was fried, had lots of butter or sour cream. My husband has changed many of his eating habits but has HBP and high cholesterol, both controlled with meds.

He is working on losing weight as well. Those old high school athletic days of playing football/basketball and eating big quantities of food gets hard to break later when we become older and less active. He does work out a little but it's not the same as hours of football or basketball practice.

How is your restriction?

Pretty much the same as you Shortgal. I can still eat large amounts but can go much longer without food. I've a bad pain on my left side the last couple of days and it looks swollen. I'm worried that I may have done some damage over Easter.

On the BIL front, they found that he had 90% blockage in one artery and 50% in another. They cleared the 90% blockage and said they won't touch the 50% one. They only do it if it's 60% and over. He has to be on tablets and will be home tomorrow. The specialist will see him for a stress test etc in a few weeks. He said that if he didn't get the chest pains and left it, he would have had a major heart attack. Lucky man.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
