Anyone with 11cc band? I have questions.

Recommended Posts

Hello. I was banded on January 17, 2008. I have lost 16 lbs as of March 4th and won't know if I've lost anymore until I go for my next appointment. I have decided not to get on a scale at all except for when I see my doctor. I don't want to get upset by looking at the scale all the time so I don't. I have an 11cc band and my doctor gave me my first fill on March 4th which was 3cc's. I was very careful with drinking and eating but realized very quickly that my first fill did nothing for me. I was wondering if because I have the 11cc band, would it take longer for me to feel restriction? If anyone has this band, how many fills did it take you to feel any restriction? I am feeling a little depressed because my doctor's office called and told me that I have to have my 2nd fill date changed from 4/8 until 4/24 due to my doctor having emergency surgery himself. It is frustrating to have to wait that long since I'm really doing this by willpower alone. I am still eating too much at one sitting but trying to make better choices and eat Protein first. I just wanted to hear others experiences. Thank you.

Jeni,

I was banded on 1/14/08, just 3 days before you. I had my first fill on 2/21/08 of 4 cc's....and I like you did not feel any restriction. I have my 2nd fill this Friday, and can't wait. I try to stay at 1200 calories, but with no restriction it is not easy. According to the Dr's scale from 2/21 I have lost 29lbs....but this last month I have pretty much just stayed the same. I am exercising, so I am hoping I am losing inches.

From what I understand, it takes 2-4 fills for a lot of people to get restriction.

Just hang in there as I am trying to, and we will get there soon:smile:

Jeni, take it from me. I had my surgery two years ago and I lost to date 35 lbs. I have a big band and I feel restriction but listening to this old lady I was told the wrong advice and I have been stalled since 6 months after my surgery due to my cheating eating habits. Focus on one bite at a time, do not give up. This is a struggle that no one understands except you and the people on this forum. You can do it, you had the courage to do the surgery so you have the courage to develop the discipline needed to get this done. DO NOT cheat on your band or you will be sorry and fat like I still am.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
