sticking_out_tongue.gifThis is exactly how I felt after having mushroom/cheese eggs this morning. I had surgery Nov. 19, 2007 and have never had a problem with mushrooms before. Well, after my last fill (This was my 3rd fill, a month ago. I have 8 cc in a 10cc band.) I have gotten a whole lot more sensitive. I can tell you without a doubt that it will be a very long time before I eat mushrooms again.

What foods have you become more sensitive to???

I couldn't get down a mushroom omelette either. Got stuck right away. A couple of weeks later I tried just a cheese omelette and the same thing happened. Apparently a lot of people can't handle fried or scrambled eggs because they're so dry. I can only eat eggs now if they're poached.

Cindy,

I have noticed that poached eggs or med. sunny side up goes down so much easier. I think that with the eggs that I age yesterday, DH cooked the mushrooms first which made them a little tough.

I tell you I ended up going to liquids for dinner because lunch came right back up. This morning things were much better.

I don't know - I'm still able to eat anything, just much less than I used to. Everything goes down. LOL

The only thing I can say I'm turned off of since getting banded is Wendy's french fries. Goodness, I used to love those things. The first 3 months after banding I was so good and didn't have any fast food at all. Tried a Wendy's combo and the fries were so greasy, I felt like I was drinking from the grease vat. Oh, it was gross...I thought I was going to be sick. LOL

As long as I remind myself to chew a ton and take very small swallows, everything goes down okay.

I haven't had a food yet that I can't eat. Some things definitely go down better than others. My problem foods are eggs, dry meats and bread. Those foods are actually going down okay now so I know I am ready for another fill. I have an appointment Thursday. I am surprised that I still have not had a PB. I am happy that I haven't but I am surprised. I really do eat very slow though.

I will be very sad if I can't eat mushrooms because I love them.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
