liquid.....forever....anybody

Recommended Posts

Has anyone else shared this experience? My surgery was on 3/5. From that day until my post-op appointment on 3/10 I was on Clear Liquids only. Until my next appointment on 3/24 I am only to drink 3 EAS shakes per day. That is only 330 calories a day. I'm feeling almost back to normal and am pretty sure I have physical hunger AND head hunger. I think I really need some encouragement.

I know how you feel. My doc wanted me to do 3 weeks of liquids after every fill. I was getting really creative with my liquids (tuna fish with a lot of mayo can be a liquid right?) wrong.... any way. I feel your pain, so just stick to it! We are here behind you.

These doctors are all over the board on what they want us to consume. I was on clear liquids for 3 days, then mushies for 5 weeks -- and yes I cheat on the mushies -- just had an orange and boy was it good!

4 weeks of clear liquids, plus (3) Protein shakes a day. 5 weeks of mushies, then 1 solid food at a time for a week each.

I am still on preop diet, but I am sooooo ready for solid foods.

YOU CAN DO IT!!!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
