I got THE CALL!

Recommended Posts

Hey y'all, I got the call!!!

I'm so excited. I go for my first appointment 3/20. I'm going to see the nutritionist and have my psych eval, as well as watching a film???? I'm trying to keep myself even, but it isn't working too well. I am so ready to change my life and really feel this is the answer for me. I know it will be hard and a lot of work, but this time I feel like there is real hope. I have learned so much here that I think I'm going in with my head on straight and well informed in my decision. So if I act a bit goofy, I did do my homework.

hugs...cat:thumbup:

Thanks Texgirly, I have to admit to being a bit nervous. I've been waiting so long to get started I feel like I'm stuck in starting position and need a good kick to get moving. I'm going to be leaning on this site a lot since I live in a tiny town and there isn't a support group nearby or at least driving distance at 3.50 a gal. I do have a friend that is going in for a gastric bypass about the same time I'll go in for my surgery, so that is helpful. Guess we may have to start our own support group. :biggrin2: I feel like I can do anything now!!!

hugs...cat:thankyou:

You are on your way! Being somewhat nervous just means you are being realistic. Congrats!

hey Cat - Elisa and Becky are right - nervous is ok and expected. You are about to make some major changes in your life (that is where my nerves came from) and it is surgery. But it is worth it. Tomorrow will be officially 2 weeks since my band and I am down by 15 lbs. already. I am expecting that to slow some as I enter the mushies phase. I started back at the gym last week and will continue that, so a few more calories will feel better.

Can't wait to see your progress too!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
