Seems like I have been sick constantly since surgery

Recommended Posts

I was banded in September, 2007. I have had great success but I have also been sick quite often this year. I was just wondering if anyone else seems to have had any of this. I know there is a lot out there, my family has all had something or another for months. BUT , I usually do not get this much. I have had colds, worse allergies and just sick all the time. Mostly cold type things. I was wondering if this maybe due to some Vitamins or something I amnot getting enough of. Just had this thought today and figured I may need to have the Dr do some blood work.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Peg:confused::smile::confused::wink:

A couple of thoughts come to mind:

1) This has been a very rough cold and flu season in my neck of the woods ever since school started...but particularly January and February! Just seems worse than normal!...so maybe that's all it is.

2) ARE you taking Vitamins, Calcium and essential oils regularly? Maybe look at supplements that boost the immune system and take those as well.

Gee, I am so sorry you've been so sick. I really wish I could say that I've experienced the same, but other than gout and ketosis (normal weight loss stuff), I've been better this winter than before.

Questions: do you take a complete Vitamin daily? Did you get a flu shot last fall?

Just thought I'd give you some sympathy....:smile:

Just wanted to let you know you are not alone. I get sick maybe once a year...and that's not every year. And it only lasts a few days and that's it.

But this year... I was banded in June and have had the flu twice, pneumonia once, and colds like you wouldn't believe.

Since our bodies are deteriorating...that's what losing weight is to the body...since we are attacking our bodies, our bodies are conserving energy and expending it to stay alive...not much room to fight illnesses or keep them at bay.

But it's so worth it! I'm a size 6/8 now.

      Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

      I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
      I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

      I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
