I have been banded for 6 weeks and had 2 fills. I read stories of what others eat and I eat way more. I have not lost any weight in 3 weeks. do you think I should go for another fil???:confused2:

My doctor won't do a fill for 6 weeks after surgery, so I don't know what to say to you. What size band, and how much have your fills been?

Are you exercising? I have found that I HAVE to exercise to keep losing. I spend 45-50 minutes daily on the treadmill and am adding 10-15 minutes on the eliptical walker (as much as I can tolerate). I also find that I don't lose when I am constipated....make sure the digestion in working well. I was banded 1/17/08 and have not yet had a fill, mostly because I am losing. I will have to fill if my weight loss slows down. I am also food journaling, keeping track of both Protein and calories. I try to keep the Protein up and calories as low as possible (well under 1000 a day).

Good luck....it will work, but remember that it's only a tool and you have to learn to use it. I've lost 58 lbs since I began the program (includes pre-surgery weight loss), but it's taken a lot of work and sweat to do it.

Lack of weight loss and a big appetite (hunger) are generally indicators that a fill is needed. But what you are eating and exact amounts should be tracked to discuss with the Dr's office.

Are you eating soft slider foods that goes through your pouch? Or are you eating solid Protein? Do you wait one hour after eating before drinking? do you automatically eat the same portions you ate before banding or do you eat a smaller portion?

These are the things I would discuss with the Dr's office and then you'll know if a fill is in order.

I totally understand. I got my band on Jan. 2nd and have only lost 13 pounds. I had one fill and I couldn't feel any difference. I am hungry and I can eat anything and everything. I go this Thursday for my 2nd fill. I hope I get some restriction and SOME WILL POWER!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
