well, i will be having my surgery on the 27th and can't wait. BUT i am getting really nervous about the liquid diet that i will have to be on for 9 days. i've read that for some this was the hardest part of the whole process. Just the thought of going cold turkey really scares me. I know that i will have to keep reminding myself that this is what i want, but still. I'm sure that many have felt this way too, so any words of encouragement or how you got through it would be great. Good luck to all the March banders....

I've been doing the Protein Drinks for 6 days now i think they are nasty but i just guzzle then down they keep me from being hungry for about 3 hours or so. I bought some of the liquid Isopure didn't ask the dr about them but they are high in Protein and no carbs or fat. Bought then at GNC they are around $5.00 for 20 oz but the store had a few flavors on sale because they were gonna be expired in a month or so. They are also nasty but a different nastiness then the power protein that you add to liquid and mix. So I said all that to say this you can make it. I just count down the days after I finish each one. My surgery date is March 17. So only 7 more days of this then I can move on to the next level. I feel like this is my punishment for being fat.

The first 5 days of liquids were the hardest for me.. I keep hearing everyone from my support group say that if you can make it throught the pre-banding diet, you can make it after!

hii. i was banded on the 13th. and today is my final day of the liquids. tomorrows mushies!! yay, i just cant wait to have cottage cheese. lol. well the liquids are hard, i was thirsty the first few days and all i wanted to do was guzzle Water, but u have to sip, so that was annoying. i was on Clear Liquids the day of surgery then the day after full. i hate yogurt, applesauce, Soups, well tried to at least, i was instructed to drink every 20 mins, but i couldnt do it. i just didnt want anything. mostly just water. once in awhile i would eat somethin..or drink i mean. and it wasnt too bad. but u'll get thru it, u prob wont even want anything at all. just lost my appetite, and i lost a lot of weight to boot. but im hungry now and just dreaming of the day i can eat solids again...good luck to u an keep in touch:thumbup:

(as far as the surg.) ok, random and icky question but did they use a catheter on you?? That is one of my main fears right now, i read somewhere on here that someone had gotten one. again, thanks...

hi dragonflygirl. yea my surgery went great for me. i had mine at 9:00a, took about 45 mins. then i went back to the room, had some Water, ice chips, and Jello. no nausea or pain at all. they gave me lots a morphine lol. and i was discharged by 1:00p that day, just a few hours. so it went beautifully. i only started feelin the pain the next day, my stomach was really sore. gas pains werent too bad either. had it mostly in the shoulder. i felt much better after the 3rd day and was out driving and at my friends house. so im a week out today and feel normal, except for a little pain by the port in my stomach, its very minor though. more like discomfort than pain. but as for the catheter..no i did not have one. the only prep i got was some heparin the blood thinner to prevent blod clots right before surgery and that was it. good luck to u and hope to hear all about ur journey!!

I had a week of Clear Liquids preop....it wasn't as bad as I imagined it would be. The Protein Drinks kept the hunger at bay and Jello filled in the gaps when I really wanted something to "eat". The 'upside' of the liquid phase for me was that it gave me such a strong sense of empowerment, that I really was in control of my destiny!

Just keep reminding yourself that in the grand scheme of things it is a pretty short period of time!

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
