Question About Restriction

Recommended Posts

Okay, I could use some advice please. I had my surgery on 7/30/07. My ticker isnt' updated, but I'm down about 50 lbs. I'm a little frustrated that I haven't lost faster, although on the other hand I know it's better to lose it slower. I'm going back for a check on Wednesday and I'm confused on whether or not I need a fille.

1. I can eat way more than a cup of food.

2. I can eat bread - although not a big bunch at a time - I can handle it.

3. I do feel restriction when drinking Water after eating though.

Do you think I would need a fill or not? I don't want to get too tight, but definitely want to keep losing. I'm exercising, although not as much as I should. I haven't lost any weight in about 1.5 months. ADVICE PLEASE!

Thanks!

Are you drinking right after you eat or are you waiting an hour? You need to wait an hour. I think if you can eat without chewing well and nothing gets stuck you probably need a fill. I know i do

If you haven't lost any weight in 1 1/2 months then its time for a fill. Don't forget to exercise or add activity every day. How many cc's is your band?

I think there is a sticky of Wendals' - "You need a fill when" . It defines the parameters you should look at if you need a fill or to change up food / exercise.

I know I need a fill when I can chug Water after a workout / eat fast w/out getting stuck / eat more than a cup a food / am hungry between meals.

Check those out - Change your Protein up / are you exercising? May need to change that up as well..Good luck Becky, personally - I think you need a fill, but check w/your Dr....tell him your frustration, that's what they are there for...

Thanks for all the advice. I'm at 3.4 cc now. I'm going to discuss with him and hope he will fill more.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
