4 months, 6 fills and finally there!

Recommended Posts

I think I'm finally at the fabeled "sweet spot" for my AP 14 cc band! After the initial surgery I lost about 24lbs pretty quickly. It was great. Then came the hard part: eating small portions without having restriction.

Over the next several weeks and months I had numerous fills, gained some, lost some, ate some, ate more, ate less and overall got frustrated with my band.

I knew it would be work to lose weight (didn't want it to be, but did know). The band alone wouldn't do it. But, I wanted the band to at least help!

Finally, after my 6th fill I think I have good restriction. Now, it really does take me half an hour or more to eat my 1/2 to 1 cup meal. And, I'm full - and staying full. That's the kicker. I had a hard boiled egg earlier and was full! Wow.

It can take time - but wow, right now I'm really impressed with this band and looking forward to continuing on the weight loss journey.

I am right there with you. I was banded on 12/21/08 and the first two weeks lost 24#s and then January I went back and forth between 274 and 273. After some fills and one unfill, I am in a comfortable place. I have made a few mistakes, like cake goes through the band and sometimes chicken doesn't BLAH. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Now I am focusing on paying attention to when I am full and working out ever day. I understand the dynamics better than just from reading about them. I did low-carb for three years, so it is great to be able to have carbs once a day.

Keep up the good work.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair. Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end. That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
