Okay, I was banded on 3/2/05. At he pre-op vist I weighed 321lbs, day of banding 315lbs, and 3/9/05 was my 1st official week. I weighed in at 305. Is this right. Ten lbs in 1 wk. I am shocked. i wasn't expecting that. Everyone else says that they can see the wieghtloss in my appearance and attitude. I look in the mirror and still see the same thing before preband. I notice small differences. How long was it before you saw the difference?

I could tell a little in my clothes and my face after 15 lb, but I knew it would take 30 lbs for anyone to notice. So, now it's been 31 lbs, and I've had 2 people ask if I've lost weight, but family who knew of the wls tell me they can see it in my face. I've also had a couple of people ask me if my hair is different. I want to yell, "No, I've lost 31 lbs", LOL.

Wow Caramel Diva,

Sounds like you are off to a great start. Keep up the good work. Before long you will be posting one of the before and after pictures and I'll be saying, "Wow, cant believe its her".

I went back to work 1 1/2 weeks post op losing 14 pounds and had people swear I had lost more than that. No, they didn't know about my band...until later when I decided to tell. A lot of mine was I had lost that "puffy" look I had in my face and stomach. First thing I noticed was I lost the Water weight in my feet and could see my ankles and they didn't hurt getting out of bed.

Sounds like you're doing good...yes that is right! WTG!

Isn't that wonderful! Great job on the 10 pounds gone forever. It took me a while before I could actually start seeing the changes myself. Others noticed way before I did.

Hey Caramel, don't get too used to this rapid weight loss. You are probably losing a lot of Water right now.

Zoe is so right! I lost 10lb in the first 5 days then nothing for another 2 weeks! A lot of Water gone. Everyone keeps complimenting me on how great my complexion is and how bright my eyes are. That's what 2 litres of water a day and no bread can do for you I guess!

The good news is that even if you put some of the Water weight back on, you'll still be losing fat, whether the scale shows a difference or not. (That's one reason some of us notice a change in our shape even if our weight stays the same.) BTW, I noticed a difference after about 10 days; my face and ankles were thinner. I think that's pretty common. You are starting to shrink for real! Congrats, Caramel.

First, great job! I was wondering the same thing because I was banded on Feb 25, 2005(pre op weight 425) and on March 8th I got on a scale and I was already down to 395. I feel great and I am fitting back into my "skinny clothes" again. My wedding band is even loose. I know a lot of it is Water weight but I am just happy it's gone and look forward to even better results.

Historically though I have always been good at losing weight pretty fast but the problem has always been keeping it off. My mother is 5'7" and skinny as a rail, maybe I have my mother's metabolism and it's finally kicking in smile.gif

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
