Hey guys just checking in really quick before I have my psych eval. sleep study was awful, I didn't sleep at all, I might of dozed off for like, 20 mins at the most. I really don't want to have to take another one! If I do then there is pretty much no hope for me being banded before school starts on June 2nd. The guy didn't tell me to reschedual or anything, ugh I don't know if I should call and make an appointment or call the surgeon or what. Everything else went alright, but right now I've been driving all day, by the end of today I will have spent 7+ hours on the road, and I haven't slept in maybe 35 hours?? Time to leave for the psych eval. Wish me luck!

YAY!!! Everything went good. The 48 hours of hell are over and I'm so relieved. Thank you so much for all the support guys!!! Half of me hopes to be banded the end of May because I start school June 2nd, the other half wants to be banded in May because I already feel so close to all of you and don't want to loose the support of this thread! I love you all! Good luck to everyone whose dates are coming up in the next couple weeks!!!!!

Way to Go Allison!!! I'm sure everything will work out for you! I'll keep you in my prayers until you get your date.

On how Ipicked my date from a previous post.... It was the week between school being out and summer school so in theory I wouldn't have to tell anyone at work about my plans. We ended up with a ton of snow days so now I have to get a sub for the last three days of school. I just told my boss it was a personal surgery. Not a lie. At this time only 7 people other than you all know.

I am getting ready to order the Unjury so I'll let you all know the verdict soon.

OK so I picked my date the same way Shelly aka Bizzy Bee did....I teach and school is done on May 23rd and my surgeon does the surgery on Wednesdays so May 28th...

However, this year I am NOT being in charge of summer school or teaching it!!! Actually, because of my hysterectomey last 6/6/07 I did not do summer school either...YEA someone else had to be in charge and do it...that let me be free of it in 10+ years!!!!

Last year I remember thinking...if I get through my hyster fine then maybe next summer I'll do weight loss surgery...HERE I AM!!!!

I am so excited too...YEA!!!

Allison, don't worry even if it takes longer to schedule...we'll still let you be a May flower!!!! You'll just be a really LATE BLOOMER!!!! I think I am the last scheduled in May anyway so...so far I am the Late Bloomer!

Have a great one...Shelley (Just like Bizzy Bee but with an "e" before the "y"!

So...we just went for a special dinner at the Melting Pot which is my FAVORITE fondue and special place to eat!!

It was to Celebrate my daughters graduation and she picked it but also I know it will not ever be the same once I am banded...It took us 2 and 1/2 hours to have our 4 course meal! so see....no 20 minute small dinner for me!

As we enjoyed our evening I realized if we ever go again..The first course with the cheese would be my favorite to have and I could just ask for my Protein at the same time for another hot pot...:crying:

So, yes I may go again...NO it will never be the same....and that is OK because frankly, I can handle it...

Besides they got rid of my favorite salad on the Menu!

Hey you two, I am a teacher too! I teach 3rd grade... trying to leave teaching but it's tough! Anyhow... I picked my day (May 27) as it was only a four day week at school due to Memorial Day and I have the sick leave.... so I just took it off.... I hate to write sub plans for that long though. I just told my principal 2 days ago even though I have had this planned for over a month now. I didn't want to tell her, but I just did it because I didn't ever want to deal with issues of her thinking it was a vacation... you see my husband teaches pe at the same school and we are both going to be gone... hard to say we are both having minor surgery or a medical procedure without something looking weird without telling... so I just did it and a big relief is off my back... only 3-4 people at work know and I probably won't tell anyone else... some might suspect after my hubby and I show up in September and are down 30 or 40 or more pounds... but then I can make up whatever I want or tell then. What grades do you two teach and where? Wish we got out at the end of May! My birthday is May 28! That would be a great birthday present! We get out like June 20 or something.... just had one snow day this year and it was built in to make up. Although..... it is 32 degrees right now and SNOWING! About an inch on the ground and still snowing! It was 79 degrees last weekend.... REALLY STRANGE~!

Wow, I don't come her for 2 days and look what I miss!!

I am vacationing in Florida still. We went to Key West on Thursday and Sarasota on Friday. I will be here for 2 more days and then heading home on April 21st. At least I'll have a nice tan when I get banded :biggrin2:

Kikival and Awomangodcanuse, yes we are getting close!!! Looking at my ticker is starting to scare me. It's very normal to be nervous. I'm not worried about the procedure, just about going "under" :crying:. I'm not looking forward to the gas pains, the stomach pains and the after-effects from anesthesia!!! I have already had my liquid pain meds filled and I intend to use them!! I will definitely stay ahead of the pain for the first couple of days. For may last laporascopic procedure (tubes tied), it took 2 solid weeks before I felt "normal" again.

Amsderb, I'm glad that you had a nice graduation dinner. You're right, you will never enjoy it the same way again. When we were in Sarasota, we went to Cici's. Those restaurants don't exist in CT. It was very good and yes I did indulge, although I didn't go crazy!!!

I am still trying to figure out how I am getting to the hospital on May 1st. I am scheduled for 12:30. I don't want to have my husband miss a whole day of work (he is self-employed). He has already been in charge of our 16yr old son while I am vacationing with my daughters. Even though he would drop everything for me, I just don't want to burden him..... No worries, I'll figure it out. When there is a will, there is a way, right!!!!

Well, I have rambled enough here. I'll keep you posted on my situation and I hope you all do the same!!

Have a great day!!

THat is a great attitude! THere are times I have the same thoughts and then there are times I think .... No more bread!!! ACK! I can do this though, been fat, thin, fat, thin, fatter, fatter long enough!

I teach 2nd grade at a rural Missouri school. I have 19 students and there are 3 2nd grade classrooms. Our school has like 445 students total at our 1st-5th grade school. Our kindergarten goes to a different school and including them we have like 500.

HI everyone....

Hey Tan Bandfan1!!! I thought about getting some sun preop but so far I have been too busy to "lay" around...that is NOT a slam....I am glad your vacation has been fun. Mine will be here soon!!!

Tic Toc Tic Toc....it is getting closer for some of you!!!!

Kamicola....I am an elementary media specialist...there are about 650 students preK - 6th at my school. I will only have this job "assignment" for 2 more school years as they have axed the budget and my position with it! OH well, good thing I was a classroom teacher before! This is my 24th year teaching!! I have NOT decided what I will teach after May 2010 but I do know that I will have several options...so I'm just gonna NOT WORRY about it...spend my time getting skinnier and healthier...and see how it all pans out....maybe they will open an early retirement window???? This is my 24th year teaching in this district! Been at it a long time!!!

I just want to tell all of you that this has been a great way to meet people and I have felt so much support from all of you. It makes the world a much smaller place!

Hey Allison....did you catch some zz'ss?

TTFN (ta ta for now)

Kammi - When I student taught in another district I had your numbers. That class is in 7th grade now, I got a late start. They have been a really, how is the nice way to say this...bothersome class for all their teachers. They even made the Kansas City News last year for a so called "hit list" I keep praying for them as they were the ones that broke me in as a new teacher. Yes, you definately have your hands full. Isn't it great though the difference you can make in their lives? I am in awe of the impact teachers really do have on kids.

Some of you Mays are getting into the single digit number of days. How are you guys holding up on pre-ops and with nerves?

Wow!! Seems like there are alot of teachers here. I have to say, I admire you. I think that requires a special gift. I am a Pharmacy Technician and work in a mail order pharmacy. Kinda get some of the same perks as you guys. Monday through Friday. Weekends and holidays off. Don't get quite the vacation as you guys...lol. I get 3 weeks. Good luck everyone... I start my diet April 30th. Not looking forward to that, but it is all gonna be worth it. Can't wait!!!:lol::lol:

allison - kudos for going through with the sleep study!! the pulmonologist i had to go to for clearance thinks i have apnea, and suggested two nights of sleep study. i said "no thank ya!" if i have apnea, i'm not going to use a cpap. just not gonna happen.

i also can't imagine sleeping in a bed with people watching me or monitoring me.. how on earth are you supposed to be rested/how is that going to produce normal results? i dunno, the whole idea totally creeped me out, so i give you credit for going through with it!!!!!

Is anyone starting their Protein diet to shrink the liver this week? My doctor merely suggested it, but from what I've heard, healing is easier if your liver is smaller? I believe I will be starting my Liquid Protein diet on Thursday- 10 days before surgery...

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

      3. Doughgurl

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
