Question from a newcomer.

Recommended Posts

I am just beginning the process for the lapband. I have gone to the seminar and recently had an appointment with the nurse, dietitian and the physicial therapist. I have an appointment in April with Dr. Posner to discuss and schedulethe surgery. This question goes out to anyone that has already had the surgery.....Do you regret having the surgery?

Nope, starting to love my band! I was frustrated waiting for the right fill level but this whole experience has been great. Very little pain, nice weight loss, feel better, down at least two sizes.

I rarely get food stuck or slime or PB ( so far) so I'm very happy and BTW I was self pay and think it was worth it.

Not at all. I had lapband surgery 2months ago and have lost 22lbs. Something that was a struggle for me the last several years!!!! It is helping to do something that was hard for me to do. Control my eating habits. I admit sometimes I things that get stuck in my throat, but I realize that I am eating TOO fast and sometimes not the best recommended things. So it plays as my alarm somewhat.

I thing you would do great!!!

I do not regret my band either, I have been banded almost 2 months. You do get frustrated as you are having to re-train yourself to eat smaller bites and chew alot. I have lost 38lbs so far and I am down 4 pant sizes! It is so worth it! Good Luck!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
