super tight and that time of the month

Recommended Posts

i was warned by my doc that my band could/would be extra tight during my period due to hormones and whatever. so i hadnt experienced this and was thinkin i must be lucky.

that was until this past saturday! i am usually really tight in the am, cant get anything besides coffee/water down until later afternoon or evening. so i didnt think much of it sat that at lunchtime i couldnt eat. i slimed and slimed and slimed and slimed and...yeah, you get the picture. so at dinner i was super careful. the smallest bite of mashed potatos. omg, thought i was gonna die, again! ok, whatever. sunday, same thing. only tighter i swear. i couldnt even get in liquids until noon! yesterday was a little better, almost back to my normal restriction. today i am starving (prolly mostly in my head, i know...) but dont want to try anything besides my crystal light!

and, to make it all better, the damn scale is up 3 lbs! stupid thing. i know its the whole monthly thing and bloated, omg, i am bloated! but still! arg! i would pull out my hair if i wasnt so damn scared of losing it!

anyone else experience this lovely monthly tightening? any suggestions on what to do to help it? just grin and bare it for a week?

I do sometimes, not every month.

But every time I've had a PB experience, I've gotten my period within a day or two.

Like last night. Instead of settling down on the couch with a glass of wine to watch Biggest Loser, I spent an hour hucking up bits of my dinner. That NEVER happens to me, my band is just a very well behaved band, it restricts how much I can eat, but not what, and it doesnt give me trouble.

Well guess what's arrived this morning, lol?

I am having the same problem! My band is normally pretty close to being perfectly adjusted (maybe a smidge too loose at times) but the last couple of days it is SO tight!!! I can barely get liquids down as well or other easy to eat foods. Today the my period started and I hope my band will losen back up when it's over!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
