Okay...I'm Freaking Out!!

Leslie, some of both---in regards to the swelling. You can feel it in a serious increase in restriction, that tapers quickly. Also both of my Dr.'s have referred to the swelling. It is apparently quite normal of the stomach and intestine both to swell in reaction to the original banding....as well as the restriction caused by the fill.

Some people have very sensitive stomachs, and have to be very aware, and cautious.

I am sure if you ask your Dr. they could explain the why for you---because I can't-------only that it does it, and you do notice it in restriction.

Thanks to all for more great advice - and some perspective! I had my banding a couple of days ago...all went well! I am soooooo bloated and gassy - uh! Can't wait for this to pass, but I can tell you for right now, I am not concerned the least bit about food! (Well, occasionaly, the chicken broth from the hospital!) :huggie:

I look forward to more advice!

Lindey;

Welcome to Lapband Land!!! I'm glad things went well with your surgery. Only about 4 to 5 weeks to see if you can tolerate your favorite foods.

Hope all continues to go well with you.

Hi luckylinds,

Welcome to Bandland!!! Just wanted to let you know the gas will be passing. You just have to tough it out. Try some gas X and you will get some relief. Otherwise, you kind of just have to be strong. I hope just knowing that it will pass very soon is enough to help. I'll keep looking on this site for your posts to see if you have any concerns or questions that my own experience may be able to help you relate to. Best of luck to you. I'm so happy for you. Have a wonderful day, even though I know you are probably a little uncomformtable. We are all pulling for you.:rolleyes2:

      I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
      I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
      Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

      Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

      Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
