Pizza and Pancakes

Has anyone tried either of these? If so at what stage? mushies/soft food?

I'm just curious - there is a place here that makes an extremely thin crust pizza - OR I was also thinking maybe it might be okay to try crustless pizza (from my Adkins days)..... but wondered about all that cheese...etc.

pancakes (to me) seem like they are fairly soft - but I wonder if they are in the bread family which I know is a no no

Any comments appreciated.

I haven't tried pizza or pancakes yet, but they do sound good. I think I remember reading on this site that with the Syrup it makes the pancake mushy, but I would try really small bites and chew well. As for pizza I don't dare bec I wouldnt be able to stop myself. Good luck and let me know how it goes down.

Depends on your restriction.. I wouldn't have either of those until you're into solids.

Before a good fill, I had pizza & pancakes. After first successful fill I could eat thin crust from dominoes, but only 1 square piece filled me up.

Now with a good fill, I can pick the toppings off of pizza, but no crust. And pancakes.. I want them sometimes, and even drenched in Syrup, one little bite gets stuck. It turns all doughy I guess and clogs me up.

im onto solids and i can eat pizza.....sort of. i eat the lil narrow triangle piece ok, then after that i just pick the toppings off cuz i start getting full. i havent tried pankakes, but i cud definely see that being bad just like soft bread

I am eating a really thin, crispy pizza square, with almost no cheese and thinly sliced eggplant round on it. Its Lent, and a Friday and I have been eating fish all week anyway, so slowly eating this.

I can do thin crust pizza fine. However, I have not been able to eat pancakes since getting my band. I have tried when I am super restricted and when I am not so restricted; it doesn't matter, it is just like bread and it doughs up on me and gets stuck.

I haven't had pancakes, but we did go to a Waffle House and I ate part of a waffle. Didn't feel real good, but I got it down and it stayed there. Of course, I only ate about 1/4 of it.

I don't like pancakes, never have. But since banding I have been able to eat thin crust pizza. Only one small slice at a time, ie it can be a slice from a medium pizza from domminos plain. After that one slice I am full and couldn't even imagine eating another slice. I only eat pizza once a month now anyway so it's not going to kill me.

Thick crust is impossible for me to eat as are breads, rice and even potatos

Thanks so much guys... I think I'll steer clear after all of this advice. I'm also afraid of starting the slipperpy slope- "well, if I eat this.....then........" HA!

I tried pancakes(well actually a piece of my grandsons) and just one forkful made me gag and feel realllllllllllly uncomfortable,as for pizza well I can eat the topping of a small slice okay and maybe 1-2 bites of the really thin crust. Regular Pizza Crust was a no no .So for me it's not worth the pain or discomfort.

I haven't tried to eat pancakes but have eaten some thin crust pizza from pizza hut, i was able to eat about 3 small slices and was full. I did try to eat a flour tortilla this past weekend, and after throwing up for 2 hours it finally came back up and i felt like crap for the next two days, so i don't think ill be eating those ever again, and i don't think ill try pancakes either, but a waffle house waffle sounds realy good.

I am 16 months out and tried my first piece of pizza two weeks ago. It took me half an hour to eat a tiny, narrow slice. It didn't set as well as I had hoped, but maybe that's a good thing. I didn't toss it back up, but was uncomfortable for the rest of the afternoon. I've done okay with a pancake, but only had a few bites.

Leena, congrats on your weight loss...wow...I would like to know what you eat daily to help me get back in gear..I started Oct 2007 at 287 and now down to 196..but the last 50 pds is tough for me..help..thanks :welldoneclap:

      I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
      I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
      Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

      Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
