  1. 1. Where's your port and how many [major] incisions do you have?

    • My port is on my left side.
    • My port is on my right side.
    • I have only 1 major incision.
    • I have two or more major incisions.

My port is on the left side directly inbetween my belly button and rib cage. I was banded on the 19th and I cant even see my incisions...except for the port!!

I had one main incision, on the right about halfway down my ribcage, and 4 tiny incisions.

My port is on my right side, just below my ribcage. Although my port has flipped, so we'll see where it ends up after I have the surgery to correct it!

How do you know when your port flips?

I found out when I went in for my first fill, under flouro, and he couldn't get the needle in the port. He finally had me lay on my side, and when you saw the side view of the port you could see that it had flipped completely over and was facing the wrong way. So I couldn't get the fill done and now I'm waiting for them to schedule the surgery to correct it. Fun times!

My port is on the right side and the incision is approx 1 3/4 and I have another on the left side that is about 1 1/8. A total of 5 but the other 3 are so small!!! The bigger ones are just off center on either side and the port one is higher, all well above the belly button so some day I could wear a midriff top and no one will be the wiser, lol.

Oh wow...how common is this, and what can you do to prevent it?

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
