I've always been self conscious about my weight. Now, finally at a size where I'm finally feeling good about myself...I've been receiving a few comments. Several people who haven't seen me in a while have asked if I broke my nose. I asked my husband about this and he said that since my face is thinner, my nose looks a litter bigger on my face!!! Now I have a complex about my nose!!! It never ends!!!

I know plenty of folks with "larger" noses and without exception, their noses are the endearing quality that makes them who they are! Sorry, but I love a face with CHARACTER. A beauty queen symmetrical face to me is one of the most boring visions on the planet. Ho Hum. Puts me to sleep. Give me a lopsided grin, a bump on a nose, funny dimples. THAT makes a person their unique and beautiful self. I will ALWAYS gravitate to those people first. They radiate interest.

Oh man, you know...the same thing is going to happen to me! When I was in junior high all I did was complain about my huge nose. The fatter I got the less I noticed. LOL Oh well, you definitely are GORGEOUS with your "broken nose". lol I'm glad you have a good sense of humor!

You could always be ready with a line like "yeah the last person who told me WLS was the easy way out---she looks much worse!!"

I am totally surprised I did not get similar comments----although I think my nose remained large and bumpy throughout my weight gain, and eventual loss, so it looks no different!!! I did have one woman ask me if I had gotten my teeth capped!!!

Here's to those of us who "nose" best!!!

Oh man, I can relate. I've always obsessed more about my nose, than my weight. But now that I've lost weight, I feel so good about my body image, that I don't pay that much attention to my huge nose anymore. However if I had the money, I'd definitely pay for a rhinoplasty over a TT any day. But I'm not doing either one. I'm the way I am and that's it! And DH loves me no matter what size or shape I am so I'm content.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
