How about that Valentine's Day Liquid Diet???

Recommended Posts

UGH... Everyone had such good treats here in my house. Yea for them. Just difficult to get down that Optifast while they were all having the good stuff. My family is being supportive but it's still really hard. I know I will make it through this even though I still have 9 days of liquid left and then 3 more weeks after surgery... yikes!

I was on liquids too! I had a fill Tuesday and had to be on liquids for 3 days after that. It did kinda suck, but there will be other Valentine's Days. Hang in there, it will be soooo worth it!

I am also on the pre-op liquids. Isn't it fun? My husband does NOT want me to have this surgery and has expressed this opinion several times. But guess what he bought me for Valentines Day?????? a JUICER!! I thought that this was one of the most thoughtful gifts he has ever given me. I was very touched!

Congratulations minock. This is a tough journey at times and you should Celebrate all your victories. Even the seemingly small ones like getting through Valentine's without succumbing to the temptations around you. You did good. :cheers2:

I was on liquids over Christmas too, and the Christmas Parties. Oh, and I was banded on New Years Eve.....Valentine's Day and avoiding sweets? Bah.

Ugh. Valentine's was my first day on mushies which should have been great, but I was soooooo nauseous all day. It didn't help that we had red velvet cake and cupcakes everywhere. All of it made me sick to even think about!

Thankfully that all passed the next day!

Thanks for all the support! It really helps. I'm still hanging in there - thru day 7 now. My daughter had a cheer competition this weekend and I was out of the house all weekend... one more challenge after another! I'm in Dallas and using the Prestonwood Facility. Dr. Victor Gonzalez... can't wait for the 25th!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
