There is no way I can get to Belguim to make sure things are ok. I have had a x-ray and no probs before xmas, my band holds 10 mils with 9 9.75 in it, I had fantastic restriction and now nothing...and I mean nothing. I wondering if it has failed and yes I have put weight back on, really fed up.

If I had the money I would have more drastic surgery, but alas all the money as gone.

Hi Angie,

Sorry to hear that you have lost your restriction. I had my band done in Belgium as well. I was paying privately to have my fills done and happened to talk to the doc about the cost and explained my situation. He told me that I could have the fill on the NHS! Which I am now doing.

So, I think, talk to your GP and get yourself referred to the right department. I asked my GP and they had to search to find out where it was. They had never dealed with a lapband before, I'm still a bit of a novelty to them. If I see a different doc, they want to see where the port is.

I hope this may help.

Kind regards

Suzy

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
