Surgery Canceled -argh!!!!!!!!

Recommended Posts

Dammit,

I psyched myself up, starved myself on liquids, took a laxative(sorry TMI), got up at the crack of dawn, dragged my 78 yr old grandma and mother with me, made it to the hospital, checked in all to be told my surgery had beeen CANCELED:eek::tt1::cursing:!!!!!!!!

My doctors patient coordinator calls me on my cell to say " Im sorry Ms M but Dr Jacob's wife had the BABY YESTERDAY! 2 weeks early !"

I love babies and they are a blessing but DAMMIT:mad: why didnt someone call me last night or the crack of dawn today!?? My doctor has my email address, cell and home phone numbers but no call until 9:32am this morning(surgery was at 10am). I mean I totally understand things happen but when his wife went into labor why didnt he leave a message for his people to call his patients?? I am so pissed!

So what did I do?? I went to a dinner with my family and ate like a starved pig! Now I feel terrible for eating like I did.

BTW new date FEB 20

Sheesh...what a mind "F"!!! That would have rattled me. Don't get me wrong, it's all good for you doc, but they should have had a protocol for this situation!! I'm so sorry that happened and don't beat yourself up for going out to dinner. Thank goodness they rescheduled you for next week not next month!! Hang in there...you will do great!!

Warm hugs taismommy:huggie: I'm so sorry this happened to you. I would have been quite peeved too. I think someone should have called you earlier. It's a case of such mixed emotions . . . you want to be happy for the doctor, but after all the trouble you went through, only to get canceled! ouch. Hang in there hun, and please don't feel bad over your dinner. I think I would have needed to go and do something for myself too! I'm glad you're still with us here in the double V's . . . you're still ahead of me  lol . . . my surgery is the 21st. We'll both be in bandland soon!

That would have totally pissed me off. Especially since I live so far away from the hospital. Oh well, on the bright side, at least you got one last good meal in AND you'll still be a Victorious Valentine! =)

I'm so sorry that this happened. I can't even imagine being called the morning of surgery and being told that it wasn't going to happen. I don't blame you for going out and taking your frustration out with food. I would have done the same thing probably.

Fortunately your new date is not too far off and you will have plenty of time to get back on track and make sure your liver is prepped well.

That AND you will still be a Double V!

Good Luck!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
