3rd fill

Recommended Posts

 I got my 3rd fill yesterday and I finally have restriction! Whoo Hoo!! I needed some restriction because I was getting really depressed. My boss had GBS a month before I had the band and she has lost 100 lbs. Slow and steady goes the race for me though. For everyone that doesn't have good restriction yet, don't give up!

Congrats :hurray:

How do you KNOW you have good restriction?

I have had two fills, and with this last one, I have been getting stuck and sliming a lot, but I still feel hungry. But, when I eat, I can only tolerate a few bites before I get stuck and/or slime.

I am still working on taking smaller bites and eating slower... I think this is why I am getting stuck and sliming

I am still not sure how I am supposed to feel... or how I will know when I am at that "sweet spot".

I THOUGHT I had good restriction after 2 fills, and I did for awhile. But I was still doing the too big bites, feel miserable thing (stuck, pbing, sliming), warm liquids the rest of the day thing. NOW, after my third fill (which was 5 weeks ago), my restriction is still good. I am eating the right things (generally), small bites and small portions and feeling satisfied for 3 or 4 hours. I still don't think I am at my "sweet spot", but as long as I am loosing (albeit slowly), I will stick with this awhile longer. My measurement is white bread, if I can eat a PBJ on white bread I need a fill. Now, I can't even NIBBLE white bread without it sticking (tried yesterday for the 1st time since my last fill, just as a test). HOORAY!

So, you had PBing, sliming, stuck, etc. after the 2nd fill, but not now after the 3rd?

Do you think it is the restriction or that you have just finally trained yourself to take smaller and slower bites?

I know that I am still eating too fast sometimes, especially when someone is talking to me while I am eating... and if I do not take the time to cut my food up BEFORE I start eating, I end up taking too big of bites.

I have not even tried white bread... but I did try a pinch of a biscuit a week or so after my first fill, and I was so miserable that I have stayed FAR AWAY from white bread products ever since. I am not much of a bread person, so I do not miss it.

How do you do with popcorn?

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
