If I believed in reincarnation, I'd think I'd done something to someone in a past life. I'm currently having a fairly painful allergic reaction to Cheez-its. I was eating a 100 calorie pack of them for a snack earlier, managed to get maybe two of them down and then noticed that the top of my mouth was burning like it was on fire and was starting to swell. Of course, I immediately stopped eating the Cheez-its, and the swelling hasn't gotten much worse, but it's still slightly swollen and burning! I don't get it. I've never had this reaction to Cheez-its before. Occasionally, I'll have similar, but much slighter, allergic reactions to nuts or citrus, but not to other stuff.

They could have been made with peanut oil or some other nut based oil if that has been an issue before.

Maybe hit some Benadryl---it comes in liquid form, and is cheap---be really careful!!! Those kind of allergies, can be serious!

Maybe something cold to drink that you could hold against the roof of your mouth would help you feel better....sorry!

If it gets much worse, I'm definitely going to make a trip to the hospital. My lips have swollen slightly and the back of my mouth (around my tonsils) has swollen up a little, too. It's not to the point where it's caused a problem with breathing or swallowing, so I'm just keeping an eye on it at this point. I took a benedryl a few minutes ago, so hopefully that will take care of it.

Yikes! I hope it goes down soon. It definitely sounds like the 100 calorie pack Cheez-its must be different than the normal ones. At least you noticed before you ate the whole thing!

To be honest, I don't get it. I've eaten Cheez-its before, even the 100 calorie packs. This wasn't even my first packet out of this box. I don't know why I'm reacting to it now. I looked on the package, and the only potential allergens that they've got noted are milk, soy, and wheat products. Years ago, I tested as slightly allergic to wheat and milk, but I've never had a reaction as bad as this before, to anything. Like I said in the OP, occasionally I'll have slight tingling or numbing of my mouth or lips when I eat lemons or nuts (usually walnuts or pecans), but nothing that has kept me from eating them.

It IS very possible to develope what is called "adult onset allergies" in other words, what was once ok.. is a potential killer now.

As a kid, I had NO allergies, used to bug all my friends. Seems almost every single one of them had atleast ONE allergy. Me? Nada. That is until I hit my 20's. Now I am allergic to the hormones in dairy (sucks, but Organic is ok for me just a allergy to my wallet LOL) Cut grass (but not regular? wtf?!?) Dust, and pet dander. OH, and wheat flour (the enriched white flour to be specific). Like I said, as a kid nothing, by the time I was 26, I had a nice list.

Still don't know if I am allergic to bee's or not, they say its not hereditary but tell that to the rest of my family. EIther way the insurance wont cover the allergy test cause "I haven't had a reaction". Well duh! I haven't been stung since I was 12. LOL

So yeah, you could have been allergic all along and for some reason that one pack REALLY set it off. I would take that box to your doctor ASAP and have them test you for specific ingredients so you can narrow it down instead of guessing.

Yeah, I'm planning on calling an allergy center tomorrow and having an allergy test scheduled. I've been wanting to do that anyway, just to see if my allergies have changed, but this will give me a good reason to do it. I think I'm swearing off of Cheez-its, though.

This just keeps getting better and better. :D The roof of my mouth has turned into one giant blister because I apparently burned it on coffee (without even feeling it!) while it was still swollen today from the allergic reaction. So now it's bruised from the swelling AND blistered. I can't even eat anything because the pressure my tongue puts on the roof of my mouth while I'm swallowing is so painful. Someone should just get it over with and put me out of my misery.

lauren,

What a miserable experience! Did you ever call your doctor?

I had a reaction from some Chilean blueberries i ate last summer--swelling and itching all over my face, skin burning and peeling, very uncomfortable. I don't think it was as bad as your reaction though.

Did Benadryl help at all? It did help me once I started taking it.

I've got an appointment for an allergy test on the 19th. I'm honestly not sure if the benadryl helped or not. If it did, it wasn't anything drastic.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
