Typcially how fast do you lose weight?

Recommended Posts

Sorry for all the questions, but i was wondering how fast people typically lose ( i know it may be different for everyone). I have 150 or more to lose and was trying to get a range of how long it may take to lose if i get banded.

thanks

It took me a year a half to lose 95 pounds, so it might take you 2 years. It really depends on how aggressive you are with exercise, etc., but it is a slower process than gastric bypass, so you'll need to be patient.

Age, height, gender, exercise, caloric intake, metabolism, genetics...they all have a hand in how fast you lose weight and EVERYBODY will be different.

I was banded 11/15/07 and I've lost 45 lbs so far...only 3 of which was from the 3-day pre-op Clear liquids diet.

I was banded on 12/12, and am down 35 pounds. I am not at my optimal restriction, so it is mostly will power and LOTS of activity at the gym 45-90 minutes, 5 days a week.

I have about 45 more to lose until goal and I hope to hit that by early fall!

Good luck to you~

It took me since August 2006 to lose 124 pounds. I want to lose 30 more. I have to say, though, that the weight loss goes much quicker when you exercise. There's a HUGE difference.

If you can lose 2 pounds a week you are going great guns. I think I averaged about 2.5 for the first 4 months and then it started to slow (but I was within 20 pounds of goal and you always slow down as you get towards goal). Right now I guess I would average overall a little less than a pound a week, but I am very satisfied with my results. Keep your goals small and attainable (Like I'll lose 3.5 pounds this next month....or something like that). NEVER look at the big picture and you won't get overwhelmed.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
